Hi everyone, I was just wondering whether anyone has any info about the Tv show that the Beatles made (63-?) called Around the Beatles. Did they mime to songs and perform skits? How long was the show produced? Is it available on video?

It was a one off special for Associated-Rediffusion(ITV) in 1964.
They did 6 songs, including a medley of their hits and Shout! the music was pre-recorded and then mimed to. There was also a comedy sketch based on A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The concert segment is available on a video called The Beatles LIVE! Ready Steady Go.

I have this video, it's pretty sweet. They're standing in the middle of a nice little crowd, miming to the songs. The best part is that they don't know when each song is going to start, so they're kind of just sitting there waiting. Then when the music begins, they quickly catch on and pretend it was them all along. The medley is pretty unique, and "Shout" is even better, as each Beatle takes a turn singing.

Thanks Tim and Jerry! I have seen the Midsummer''s Night Dream sketch but didn't realise it was from this as I saw it on a rather odd video called Fun With the Fab Four
