on the Internet Movie Database under trivia for Yellow sub, it say that the BEatles weren't too keen on the idea for the film (which is true) because they didn't like the beatles TV cartoon seris. The cartoon seris doesn't look ewt like the yellow submarine cartoons so I can't belive that the film is based on the TV seris. is it?

Originally, Al Brodax wanted to create a feature-length film based on the Saturday morning cartoons. The Beatles hated the idea. It was soon decided to make a brand-new cartoon.
Another little-known fact about the film is that Peter Max did not work on the film. This goes in depth (along with other facts) in Dr. Bob Heironamus (sp?) book Inside the Yellow Submarine.

Paul wanted Yellow Submarine to be "Disney-like" thank God it wasn't.
John was never too keen on the idea, until he got into it.
Ringo liked it sort of... sort of... his fave scene still is "The Sea of Holes"

Yellow Sub wasn't based on the cartoon series, but George's line "It's all in the mind, ya know" was first spoken in a Beatles cartoon! I think it was the "Strawberry Fields" episode. I have no doubt that the cartoon series had some influence on the movie. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/teeth1.gif

The one thing I didn't like about the movie was they were making John look so educated

I think in the cartoon version of the Beatles (Yellow Submarine that is)... Their what I think are the "Signature" features are exaturated.... like pauls nose for instance... its connected to his eyes, i belive... I lost my copy so i forget :'(... and john and his glasses... He was very educated-like in the movie... even talked that way, always wise cracking smart stuff that didn't make sense all of the time... Fingo, His nose and his eyes are exaturated ... I love ringos eyes...
On george, there is an air of mystery, espically the room he's in when Old Fred, John and Ringo go to find him on "Sitarday"
I also love the Sgt. Pepper uniforms....
****
Ringo Says that sometimes people walk up to him on the street and say "Why did you press the button? You knew it was going to do something bad.
That was off some video somewhere or interview...
I better quit before you hear too much and I write a book

If you look closely at Hey Bulldog the second John and George look like the cartoon ones...both YS and the cartoons were made by TV Cartoons,London.

It's very different from Disney cartoons. I think Yellow submurine isn't a cartoon for only kids. I love it! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll2.gif

The Beatles thought the cartoon would be crass and didn't want much to do with it, apart from handing in Pepper and MMT rejects, but they came round and made a guest appearance at the end.

I kinda wish that The Beatles did there own voices. I think it might of been kinda better. But I think the Yellow Submarine movie ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll2.gif

I like YS, but it isn't really a movie for anyone that doesn't either like the Beatles or get that sort of movie. We watched this in my Music theory class and atleast half the class left the classroom with confused expressions on their faces.

me too! i think it's funny that we probably know the lines better than any of them since they didn't use their own voices and probably didn't need to memorise the lines!

They saw a preview of it and wanted to go back and do the voices themselves. However,it was too late for that as there was no way thye could have redone the voices and made them maych the images perfectly, if you did not know the voices are done first in an animated movie.

I've seen Yellow Submarine once, when I was about 8 so I don't really remember it, but with everyone saying how great they think it is it makes me want to see it again! Methinks I'll have to try and rent some where, though sometimes its hard to find Beatles stuff in video stores
Thats also interesting that the Beatles DID want to do their own voices when they saw the film, I didn't know that...too bad they couldn't have!
