I wanted to start this topic about the movies who contains a Beatles reference... and yes, I know they are millions, but the ones we can remember they must be important... I start with these that came in my mind right now:
- Forrest Gump, Forrest gets to an American talk-show, the Dick Cavett's one just aftet he got back from Vietnam... and this is the dialogue:
Forrest Gump In the land of China, people hardly got nothing at all.
John Lennon (Joe Stefanelli) No possessions?
Forrest Gump And in China they never go to church.
John Lennon No religion too?
Dick Cavett Ah. Hard to imagine.
John Lennon Well, it's easy if you try, Dick.
-Sliding Doors, James, who ends up to become Helen's fiancee, in the beginning to approach her in the metro train asks if she knew that the words of a Beatles song who was copied by a band, when she answers that no, she didn't he says:
"Everyone is born knowing every single Beatles lyric. It's ingested into the fetus along with all that amniotic stuff. Fact: they should be called "The Fetals."
Another thing is that in a pub they go, there's a Beatle cover group that sings and plays to entertain the people
-Apollo 13, the oldest daughter of Jim Lovell, slams down into the rack the album Let It Be, and screams and cries about the Beatles breaking up... (but Apollo 13 occurs on April 13, 1970. Let It Be was not released until May 9, 1970...http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/lookaround.gif )

Mr. Holland's Opus deals with John's death in 1980.
In the scene, Glen Holland comes home from teaching music. His son, Cole (who is deaf), is working on their car. Cole asks him what's wrong and Glen assumes that he wouldn't understand, that he does know who John is. This leads to an argument that finally clears the air between father & son.
A very touching movie, all around.

I was just thinking, I saw "Field of Dreams" the other day. There is a part where Kevin Costner is walking into the house with his "wife" & they're talking about another character in the movie called Terrence Mann & Kevin is all saying how cool this guy is because he "hung out with the Beatles!"
Well, that would be cool!!!

hey, has anyone seen ALMOST FAMOUS (i dunno how to do italics.) i was just wondering if that scene where the kid looks in a room in an apartment and sees a lady with long dark hair and a guy singin w/ his guitar(looks kinda like john and yoko) if that actually WAS supposed to be john and yoko???żżż i was never really sure...
well anyways... this isnt a movie but there is a ton of simpsons episodes where the beatles are mentioned or parodied. the biggest one is the "b sharps" episode. i can remember Barny got hooked up with an asian woman and they did a "number 8" song...and they win an award and George Harrison comes and says "hi homer" and homer goes "OH MY GOD! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT BROWNIE!" hehehehhehe
and at the end the "b sharps" sing on the rooftop of moes tavern and george drives by and says "its been done."
anyways the whole episode is practically a beatles parody.

They're easy. Just use "i" enclosed in brackets [ ]. Then close it with "/i", also in brackets. (BTW, don't use the quotations marks.)

It's a shame George didn't get many lines in that episode of the Simpsons.
George:Hello Homer, I'm George Harrison.
Homer: On my God, OH MY GOD! where did you get that brownie?
Georgehttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/blush.gifver there, there's a huge pile of 'em.
Homer shovels them into his mouth
George:Well what a nice fella."
And during the rooftop concert (Where Homer was dressed up as John, Barney was dressed up as Ringo, Seymour was dressed up as George and Apu was dressed up as Paul).
George:It's been done.

okay, I thought of 3 more references:
*In Kate & Leopold: Meg Ryan to Hugh Jackman on his 19th century apparel--
"And that would make you. . . Sgt. Pepper?"
*The new trailer for the 3rd Austin Powers installation is of that 'Mini-Me' character, running from screaming fans-- a scence for scene copy of A Hard Day's Night opening credits.
*Oh, and of course, the entire movie "That Thing You Do" was entirely beatles influenced: they even copied the "Can't Buy Me Love" montage from A Hard Days Nighthttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

This is a very minor Beatles reference, but in "Sleepless In Seattle" the little boy and his friend are listening to records and the boy is so amazed and says to his dad, "If you listen to this backwards, it says 'Paul is dead'!"

yeah, that also apears in austin powers one. the trailer for austin powers three is exatly like austin powers one except in #3 all the people are replaced by little people.
you wont be seeing that trailer anymore because austin pwrs 3 is an unauthorized parody of Goldfinger so they have to can the whole movie and all the ads for it. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry2.gif
i beleive mike myers is writing a different script for austin pwrs 3 but im not sure.

Um, Peaceflame, where did you get that information? Parody is protected under the First Amendment, I think it would be difficult for the estate of Ian Fleming to make them can the whole movie...I'd love to know where you found that information if you can point me to an article. Thanks!

I suppose I can put these here... these are the Beatles' references in the Simpsons shows... here is the link: http://www.snpp.com/guides/beatles.refs.html
Season 2
[7F04, "Treehouse Of Horror"] The opening sequence includes a Paul McCartney gravestone (parodying the 60s 'Paul is Dead' rumours)
[7F05, "Dancing Homer"] Marge is advising Bart on peace and love stuff, Homer interrupts saying "Enough of all that Maharishi Gandhi stuff"
[7F12, "The Way We Was"] Reverend Lovejoy's call for a public burning of "Krusty related merchandise" echoes the church's reaction to John Lennon's 'Bigger than Jesus' comments in 1966 and the subsequent destruction of 'Beatle Trash'
[7F15, "Principal Charming"] Patty and Selma's co workers Stanley and Martha Peterson's wedding vows include two lines from 'Martha My Dear'
[7F18, "Brush With Greatness"]
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Bart: 'Hey, who's the Mop-Top with the big Schnozz?!'
<LI>Marge had a schoolgirl crush on Ringo ('a likely story' notes Homer jealously).
<LI>Richard Starkey (MBE) guest-stars. He lives 'somewhere in England' seemingly in a castle(!) still answering his mid-60s fan mail with a butler named Weatherby. His favourite colour is blue and he is partial to 'tea and crumpets' (aren't we all?)
<LI>Ringo replies to Marge's letter (sent 1966) and confirms we have 'French Fries' in England (but we call them 'chips'). He thinks her portrait is 'Gear'!
<LI>Ringo's 'It Don't Come Easy' is featured.
<LI>Monty Burns remembers the Beatles "off-key caterwalling on the old Sullivan Show".
Season 3
[8F05, "Like Father, Like Clown"] Krusty's office wall contains a photo of Krusty with the Beatles c. 1964; At the Simpsons house, Krusty finds a video-tape of George's 'Concert for Bangladesh'
[8F06, "Lisa's Pony"] An orchestral version of 'Golden Slumbers' accompanies a Homer dream sequence. This sequence is repeated in [9F17, "So It's Come To This"] but with a different soundtrack.
[8F11, "Radio Bart"] Vince Chan suggests that Janey's skipping song may be a reference to 'Come Together' ("One and One and Three is Five...")
[8F19, "Colonel Homer"] After Lureen singed "Finally Bagged Me a Homer" in the studio, the producer says "There's some kind of grinding noise on the track" (Marge, grinding her teeth). This may be an oblique reference to the 'You're Gonna Lose That Girl' sequence in 'Help!' ("Boys, are you buzzing?!")
[8F21, "Otto Show"] Homer's version of 'Spanish Flea' includes a lyric concerning the Beatles.
Season 4
[9F11, "Selma's Choice"] The cookie Homer eats is in the shape of Ringo's head
[9F15, "Last Exit To Springfield"] Lisa's dentist dream sequence turns into a missing scene from the Yellow Submarine film ("Look, it's Lisa in the sky", "No diamonds though").
Season 5
[9F21, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet"]
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Marge's portrait of Ringo is on her swapmeet stall.
<LI>'Meet the Be Sharps' LP cover is a parody of 'With the Beatles' (The American edition was, of course, 'Meet the Beatles')
<LI>Moe's Cavern!
<LI>The sacking of Wiggum and the 'anti-Barney' protests echo the sacking of Pete Best, and his replacement with Ringo in 1962
<LI>After recording 'Baby on Board' Nigel says "Gentlemen you have just recorded your first number 1" - allegedly what George Martin said after the Beatles recorded 'Please Please Me'
<LI>Nigel getting Homer to keep his marriage a secret echoes Brian Epstein's similar instructions to John Lennon.
<LI>The JFK Airport and Press Conference scenes are directly lifted from the Beatles arrival in America in February 1964 (even down to Barney/Ringo combining his hair!)
<LI>Homer: "Then came the greatest moment of my life"
George: "Hello Homer, I'm George Harrison"
Homer: "Oh my God! Where did you get that Brownie?!"
<LI>The Be Sharps merchandising - lunch boxes, mugs, (poisonous) funny foam (cf. the 60s Beatles merchandising craze).
<LI>Bart: "What did you do, screw up like the Beatles and say you were bigger than Jesus?"
Homer: "All the time. It was the title of our second album!"
<LI>The 'Bigger than Jesus' cover parodies 'Abbey Road'
<LI>The 'Meet the Be Sharps' back cover parodies the back cover of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.
<LI>Peter Vesuwalla suggests Homer getting the idea for 'Baby on Board' from a car sign may refer to John gaining inspiration for 'Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite' from a poster.
<LI>A parody of the infamous 'Get Back' session photo of the Beatles looking sick and glum.
<LI>Barney's new girlfriend "the Japanese conceptual artist".
<LI>"Number 8"!
<LI>The rooftop reunion at Moe's, an (uncannily accurate) parody of the rooftop gig in 'Let it Be'
<LI>George: 'It's been done!'
<LI>Homer: "I'd like to thank you on behalf of the group, and I hope we've passed the audition!"
<LI>The shortening (almost) of Apu's name (ala Ringo).
<LI>The chorus of 'The Surgeon General Song' could be a reference to 'I Am the Walrus' suggests 'Zed'.
[1F14, "Homer Loves Flanders"] Homer & Ned visit the 'Helter Shelter'
[1F16, "Burns' Heir"] Deprogrammer: "My greatest achievement was getting Paul McCartney out of Wings."
Homer: "You idiot! He was the most talented one!"
[1F18, "Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song"] Joe Cocker's cover of 'With a Little Help From My Friends' accompanies the 'Wonder Years'/ home-movie opening sequence
Season 6
[1F22, "Bart of Darkness"] Springfield waxworks contained an exhibit of the Beatles as they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Unfortunately, they've melted in the heatwave.
[2F02, "Sideshow Bob Roberts"] Lisa describes Sideshow Bob as 'Ringo to his rest of the Beatles'
[2F06, "Homer Bad Man"] One of the corrections 'Rock Bottom' offers is "The Beatles haven't reunited to enter kick-boxing competitions"
[2F14, "Homer vs. Patty And Selma"] Barney smokes a cigar without removing the wrapper, and sees "Sgt. Pepper" growing out of Homer's back.
[2F22, "Lemon Of Troy"] The wig Bart wears when infiltrating the Shelbyville gang: "makes him look a lot like one of the Beatles"
[B]Season 7
[2F20, "Who Shot Mr.Burns, part II"] The DNA database includes the names of Paul, George and Ringo.
[3F03, "Lisa The Vegetarian"]
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Paul and Linda McCartney guest star ('I read about you in history class!')
<LI>Apu performs 'Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band' on the tabla.
<LI>Apu's claim to be "the fifth Bee-atle" (a 'Help' film reference) cannot entirely be discounted.
<LI>The 'Maharishi Period' is mentioned (see [7F05])
<LI>Paul *isn't* dead, apparently! (see [7F04])
<LI>"She's Leaving Home?"!
<LI>Homer looks in an ancient pram in front of a brick-wall, drawn from the imagery of the European cinema trailer for 'A Hard Days Night'. [most obscure reference yet?!]
<LI>Linda mentions "Apu's garden in the shade".
<LI>'Maybe I'm Amazed' plays over the credits with references to backward messages (sadly *not* "We'll f**k you like a superman" - this *is* a family show after all)
[3F10, "Team Homer"] The Lovejoys' and Flanders' bowling team is called, "Holy Rollers", clearly inspired by the lyrics of "Come Together".
[3F09, "Two Bad Neighbors"] The Ringo portrait [7F18] is seen.
[3F15, "A Fish Called Selma"] A picture of Ringo Starr appears at Pimento Grove (where Troy McClure takes Selma for dinner)
Season 8
[4F02, "Treehouse of Horror VII"] The Ringo portrait from 7F18 is seen again.
[4F06, "Bart After Dark"] The opening 'couchgag' is a parody of the 'Sgt. Pepper's' LP cover. The opening music segues into the closing A-chord from 'A Day in the Life'. The entire sequence seems to have been influenced by the opening to the 1987 British South Bank Show documentary 'The Making of Sgt. Pepper' which featured an animatation of the LP cover.
[3F24, "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer"] During Homer's 'trip' Jasper (almost) quotes from 'I Am the Walrus' (Not quite 'Goo Goo Goo Joob', but close enough);
Several viewers have suggested that Barney Gumble's echoing belch when Homer is hallucinating may be a reference to the final chord in 'A Day in the Life';
The pyramid-thing that Homer climbs to see the coyote/fox looks exactly like the one Old Fred had to climb in "Yellow Submarine";
I had a fascinating email from Ken Furphy who suggests that this entire episode is filled with allusions to the Beatles work of the late 60s - citing dozens of examples including the wax that Homer eats being a reference to the waxwork figures on the Sgt. Pepper cover. "The entire theme" Ken writes "of Homer's search for a meaning to life beginning in 'Pepperland' and ending in the harmony of marriage is a clear reference to the course that John and Paul's lives took in the years 1967-1970". I'm not sure I agree with a lot of Ken's assumptions, but it's an interesting take on the episode. (My comment: I don't think that was the intention either)
Season 9
[5F01, "The Cartridge Family"] Watch closely during the baseball game. Does the man in the National Health glasses sitting just behind Moe and Sideshow Mel look at all familiar??! (My comment: could he be Paul?)
Season 10
[AABF16, "The Old Man and The "C" Student"] When Bart turns the senior citizens loose, they re-enact the "Can't Buy Me Love" field sequence from A Hard Days Night. Also, on the end titles an album cover that looks suspiciously like the A Hard Day's Night LP cover is seen, with 4 moptop haircuts and the title "A Bart Day's Night"
[AABF17, "Monty Can't Buy Me Love"] Episode title 'Monty Can't Buy Me Love'!

ok this one is kinda hard to explain. theres these three guys, right, and two of them are talking and one of them says "what was it that Lenin said?" and they continue talking and ignoring this other guy who keeps going "i am the walrus." "i am the walrus" and they keep ignoring the guy who keeps saying "i am the walrus" cuz obviously this guy thought they were talking about Lennon right, when they REALLY said LenIN and the guy keeps saying "i am the walrus" while the other two guys are talking and ignoring him until one of the guys says this phrase that is repeated throughout the movie: "shut the F**K up donny!" (donny is the guy who kepts saying "i am the walrus")

I know this isn't a movie, but did anyone see the episode of the PowerPuff Girls called "Meet the Beat-alls"? It was chock-full of song and other references, the reporter was named Stuart Best. It was great.
Thanks also for the Simpson's references.
I believe in The Rock he is buying "Meet the Beatles" and laments at how expensive it is.

One more Simpson's reference, I don't know if it was in the above list (if so, I missed it)
When Homer is looking for glasses (sorry I don't know the title of the ep) and he tries on a pair and the guy at the store says "These are very popular with famous stars, like Val Kilmer and Yoko Ono" and Homer takes the glasses off and throws them down and says "Eww! She ruined the Plastic Ono Band!" (or something like that, I'm going by memory here)

A very touching movie, all around.

I am convinced that Cole is both Julian and Sean and Mr. Holland is John. Because in the beggining, he's happy he has a son, but is too busy sharing music with other people to share music with his son. And then after John's death in the movie, Cole becomes Sean and Mr. Holland is like John in his last five years and is more interested in being with Cole than his students and stuff. Am I the only one who thinks this?

I'm not remembering any references within "High Fidelity" (the movie) to The Beatles - however, the book (which draws much more on obscure British pop, the movie is more "Americanized") has a very very sweet section about the Beatles and what they mean to the main character and so on. Good stuff.
Oh, and the rest of the book is great too!

Here's some similarities with "Animaniacs":
*Both the Warners and the Beatles were on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in the 60's (accordin' ta "The Warner's 65th Anniversary Special", purposely ep. #65).
*The Warners did a parody of the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night", called "A Hard Day's Warners" (ep. #73).
*In "Little Drummer Warners", after Wakko is done his drum performance and the Warners have finished their song, the three simultaneously take a low, deep bow. Even Wakko, still behind his drum set. This is the same type of bow that the Beatles always used in conclusion ta a performance. Even Ringo, behind his drumset.
*Wakko is reminiscent of Ringo in certain expressions and mannerisms:
That innocent, dopey look.
Both at times, the odd guy out.
Often considered the "clowns" of their groups.
*Does Wakko really sound like Ringo? Definitly if ya watch earliest episodes. It's natural for a cartoon character's voice ta evolve, but since Animaniacs moved ta WB, Wakko's voice changed drastically! (His voice sounds younger and raspier now.) Wakko also seems more intelligent in the newer cartoons. Is Jess Harnell tryin' ta move away from the Ringo impression?
Wakko's voice in episodes rangin' about 1 - 20: Ringo Starr, definitely, definitely, Ringo. Definitely.
Wakko's voice in episodes rangin' about 20 - 69: George Harrison? Ringo?
Wakko's voice in later episodes: Hmmm, not George or Ringo. Maybe the tiniest bit of John Lennon, though.
*both George and Wakko are considered the quiet ones.
*In the Beatles' movie, "A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles give their train seatmate -- this grouchy, stuck up, man -- a hard time. The man, gettin' fed up, turns ta Beatle, John Lennon, who smiles sweetly at him, "Give us a kiss." says John.
In the Animaniacs cartoon, "Plane Pals" (ep. #22), the Warners give their plane seatmate -- this grouchy, stuck up, man -- a hard time. The man, gettin' fed up, turns ta Wakko Warner, who smiles sweetly at him, "How's about a kiss?" says Wakko.
*Wakko's main catch phrase is "Faboo", explainin' somethin' that he finds pretty gosh darn swell. Could "Faboo" possibly be derived from the popular "Beatle" slang, "Fab", which had the same meanin'?
*Ringo's widely known for imitatin' Marx brother, Groucho. Wakko's widely known for imitatin' Marx brother, Harpo.

In the end, when they are bringing the cocaine in the hotel, they have four bags in their hands, and they cross a street on a zebra crossing. All of them keep the bag in their right hand, but the third guy (I think I remember it was Sick Boy, tho I am not 100% sure) has it on the left hand... well, it could be like the Abbey Road cover, with Paulie as third http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

That does sound like a subtle hint at the Abbey Road cover Amalthea!
Here's a few others:
Girl Interrupted, when they are taking Winona Ryder to the mental institution, the cab driver asks her why she's going. She says, "I see things." The man says, "Who doesn't. They could lock John Lennon up for that." She says, "I'm not John Lennon."
Love Story - such a good movie, and the main character Jenny tells her boyfriend she loves him more than Mozart, Bach, and The Beatles.
My Girl (my all-time fave non-Beatles related movie) Maculay Culkin's character said if he had his own motorhome he'd "drive all the way to Liverpool." Jamie Lee Curtis' character asks why, and Veda, the main character says, "Big Ringo fan."
Poltergeist - the dad sings "If I Fell" to the mom.
Hanging Up - "Junk" is playing in the background when Meg Ryan is looking at old pictures.
I saw the ending of an old movie called Shampoo with Goldie Hawn on TV, and when I came across it they were played the first 3 songs from Sgt. Pepper at some party they were at. There might have been other references but I missed the rest of the movie!

Some TV references:
I don't know if anyone watches Dawson's Creek, but one episode focuses a lot around Dawson and Joey reminising about listening to the Beatles all day when they were little and how much they loved them, especially John. Here's some of the best lines:
"They kept yelling for us to turn down that hippie music" Joey says, "Yeah..and you wanted to be John Lennon. You wanted to write songs and change the world with your music."
Joey gives Dawson the Imagine poster (the 1988 self portrait one) and they hang it over his bed, and Dawson says, "So what do you think? Do you think John here will inspire me to walk my own path?" Joey tells him he just needs to widen his path a little, and "be on the lookout for your Yoko." "Imagine" plays during the credits.
Flintstones - I remember an episode where Fred's relatives or some people come and they all wear Beatles wigs at the end and spoof the Beatles. They keep singing "Yeah Yeah Yeah" over and over. Has anyone else seen this?

LORELAI: People can evolve together, don't you think?
LUKE: Maybe.
LORELAI: Yoko and John Lennon did. They just got closer and closer as the years went by. At the end, they had the same face.
LUKE: Yeah, it got a little spooky.

I was bored over a vacation once and watched a movie on Lifetime called The 70's (hoping for some stuff about the music). It ended up being this like 2.5 hr saga of these people's lives. however, it wasn't all wasted. At the beginning, there was this girl with a boyfriend she'd been dating for ever, and she was talking about him with his sister/her best friend. It went something like:
GWB(girl w/ boyfriend): I just don't know if me and Tim will last.
F(friend): Are you joking?! You two are constantly together! You're just like John and Yoko!...

[3F24, "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer"] During Homer's 'trip' Jasper (almost) quotes from 'I Am the Walrus' (Not quite 'Goo Goo Goo Joob', but close enough);
Several viewers have suggested that Barney Gumble's echoing belch when Homer is hallucinating may be a reference to the final chord in 'A Day in the Life';
The pyramid-thing that Homer climbs to see the coyote/fox looks exactly like the one Old Fred had to climb in "Yellow Submarine";

I saw Panic Room this weekend. In the middle of the movie the daughter suddenly starts saying the titles of all the Beatles albums.

BEST. SHOW. EVER. I saw a few more Beatles references in some of the newer Simpsons episodes. When the best show and best band come together, well it's shear bliss! I don't have the exact quotes for these, so they might be a bit messed up.
Treehouse of Horror X - Oct. 31, 1999. Because Homer didn't make the computers at the power plant Y2K compatible, the world self distructs. Reverend Lovejoy preachs that this wouldn't have happened had it not been for "mini skirts and Beatle boots." Ned struggles to get his off and says "I resisted them for 35 years, why did I have to wear them now?"
Same episode: The "important people" leave in a rocket destined for the moon. Waiting in line are people like Bill Gates, Stephen Hawking, and none other than Paul McCartney!
1999 Christmas Episode: This reference was pretty subtle and I don't quite remember the exact quote, but Lisa opens a closet door, a mop falls on her head, and Chief Wiggum calls her a Moptop. He then proceeds to do his "Ed Sullivan impression" and does the whole "we've got a really big shoe, really big shoe tonight"
Lisa Vs. Malibu Stacy: Grandpa sings "We Love You Matlock" to the tune of "We Love You Beatles" with the same words, substituting Matlock for Beatles.

One more reference from "3F03 - Lisa the Vegitarian" I think you missed:
Apu: You can make people see what you want without badgering them always. It's like Paul's song "Live and Let Live."
Paul: Actually Apu, it's "Live and Let Die."
Apu: Whatever, whatever, it had a good rhythm!

Hey! Lets not forget "I am Sam" http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/tongue.gif
In "Nat'l Lampoons Vegas Vacation", Chevy Chase's kids ride around with these Beatles impersonators. And in "Wonder Boys" Michael Douglas and Tobey Maguire are listening to 'Watching the Wheels' in the car.
Okay, they weren't that good, but all the good ones have been mentioned already.
Oh yes! I just remembered, Yoko was a special guest on the tv show "Mad About You" where she asks Paul Reiser to help her "film the wind" or something like that. It was a very cool episode. Anyone remember it?

In Pinky and the Brain there's an episode (which was aired yesterday in Italy), about four Liverpool's lads who conquered the world, the Feebles. There's also the indian part (Pinky is the Mousearishi) and the final tragedy with the arrival of Yoyo No, that makes the group split off: John closes with her in an hotel room and sings a song that is like "All we are saying, is give trousers away"... lol! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

The other day, I found a GREAT site with lists of Beatles references. It's got lists from movies, TV, The Simpsons, music, and other stuff:
http://www.arcomnet.net.au/~porter/everyday.html
This site actually reminded me of one of my favorite TV references - it was the episode of "Quantum Leap," where Sam leaps back to the '60s and his little sister asks him what happens to the Beatles in the future. He can't bear to tell her about John, so he tells her "John writes my favorite song," and sings "Imagine" to her. So sweet! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/smile1.gif

A VERY small Beatles reference in a movie I just saw today...
In "I'll Be Home For Christmas" with Jonathan Taylor Thomas he sneaks onto a plane and rides in the dog cage with a Bulldog called Ringo.
A bulldog... named Ringo. (too bad it wasn't painted blue)

I'm not sure if Vanilla Sky has been mentioned yet. Tom Cruise's character talks to a Kurt Russell's character about the Beatles. Kurt is talking about becoming a family man or something, and mentions that John used to be his favourite Beatle, but now it is Paul. Tom says that he's always liked George. On the commentary of this film, Cameron Crow talked about how well a person can be defined by their favourite Beatle. Very true. He also says the movie was constructed like the cover of Sgt. Pepper or the layers of Revolver - the more you see the cover or hear the record, the more there is to learn. There are also references to Revolution No.9 in the movie and it is shot at the Dakota in some parts. It's a great movie!

The movie, Airheads, has a small Beatles reference and one to Yoko Ono. If you've never seen the movie, I highly recommend it.

In the movie "Ali", Ali is talking to some girl who can't believe he met The Beatles recently. She asks what they were like and he says something like, "Only one of them was smart. The fellow with the glasses." The girl asks what he said, and Ali replies, "He told me that the more real you get, the more unreal everything else gets."

I have no clue, but I could totally see it. A lot of the movie seemed to follow Ali's life closely, and he DID meet the guys in America in '64, the time that that scene was supposed to take place. Perhaps he really said it then!

I just watched this movie last night called, "Million Dollar Hotel",starring Mel Gibson, Jimmy Smits and Milla Jovovich. What a bizzare movie! But there are a ton of Beatles references!Mel Gibson plays an FBI agent who is called to investigate a murder that took place at this hotel full of what Mel Gibson's character called freaks. One of the first people he encounters, is this character called Dixie. He has the John Lennon look (long hair, beard and glasses). And he speaks with an exaggerated english accent. The first thing he says to Mel Gibson is, " Why am I a suspect, I was in the Beatles you know!"Then he says stuff like, While the rest of the band was in India with the Maharishi, I was here writing all of the songs for them.Mel Gibson holds up the Sgt. Peppers album and Dixie says,"They didn't even wait for me to take the picture for that album!"Later in the movie, Dixie is in the hotel lobby playing piano, and he is explaining to some guy how he wrote I Am The Walrus.Very funny!Mel Gibson walks in and Dixie says," Hey look, It's Sgt. Filcher!Mel Gibson replies,(almost singing)"When I find out who the murderer is , you know I'll feel alright. The movie itself is pretty bad, But the Dixie character made it worth watching.
Sidenote:The movie was written and directed by Bono.
