Is there anyone out there who collects Beatle gear?
Guitars, amps, drums.
I've started a collection of my own and am currently looking for a Ludwig drum kit.
To date I have a Hofner Beatle bass, an Epiphone J160E and a Gretsch Tennesee Rose.
Any other collectors out there?
Any Ludwigs for sale?

Hi Hofner, good luck with your collection. It's an expensive one! I cannot tell I'm such a collector myself, much as I like musical instruments in general and guitars in particular, but deep there in my heart I don't lose all hope of getting some other Beatle gear (not vintage, that would be too much). So far I've only got a '62 Beatle bass reissue (my guitars are not Beatle-related, although one of them is very Gretsch-looking), and I don't think my collection will grow in the near future. Even if I could save all that money, I don't think I play well enough yet to deserve other instruments. But I've made a list of things I'll buy the very moment I win the football pools, no matter how I play: in that order, a Rickenbacker 360-12, a Duo Jet, a Gibson J160-E, an Epiphone Casino, a Country Gentleman, a Rickenbacker 325... And, of course, a Ludwig kit, and a couple of Vox amps (luckily, I haven't got other obsessions, so I can devote all the money to the Beatles). But until that prize comes, I'm afraid a single Beatle bass won't make me a collector :nono4:...

Are Ludwig kits very expensive compared with other brands? I'm sure the 500/1 bass must have been a cheap bass back in the early sixties, when Paul got his, but nowadays it's become really pricey owing to its connection with the Beatles, like other Beatle guitars. I wonder whether that's the case with Ludwig drums (I'm afraid it'll be so).

EGC,
I been looking around for the Ludwig, and I reckon I can get one for about $1500 but I have a mortgage payment too, so I guess I'll have to wait.
As far as the Hofner goes, there are some inexpensive copies made by Jay Turser and Epiphone.
I have a copy of the real Gibson J160E by Epiphone, also much cheaper.
Fortunately, the Casino is still also a relatively inexpensive instrument at around $500.
As far as the Rickenbackers go, well, maybe I'll win the the lottery...
