I saw Backbeat today and forgot how much I liked this movie I haven't seen in a while. Pretty general story of the early days with Stu S. but good acting and directing, although the heavy Liverpool accents were hard to follow at times. Much about Stu and Astrid and John.

What do you think about this one and does anyone know what Astrid K. is doing these days?

FPSHOT, I highly recommend it to you and all Beatle fans. It is the story told from the Stu Sutcliff perspective. Theatrical movie quality as opposed to TV movie. And the soundtrack has Dave Groel on Drums with Dave Pirner. Early rock and roll. Most of the story is based in Hamburg. Easily found at a video store near you.

I enjoyed this one as well. Wondering one thing though... Is the woman who plays Cynthia Lennon the same as the woman who plays Elizabeth Bennett opposite Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice (love this film...)? I think her name is Jennifer Ehle (sorry if I butchered the spelling) - but they look similar.

I saw Backbeat only one time and it really didn't stike me as a very good movie. Maybe I'll have to catch it again later.

As for Astrid, she's still making appearances from time to time, signing autographs and holding on to dear memories.

Thanks, it was great seeing these photos after seeing the movie recently, in which her character had a substantial role. Too bad I don't have the disposable income to part with $200.00 for a photo. I have to put 2 kids through college.

cool enough movie. The stuff about cause of Stu's death was kind of speculative, in my opinion. Had too much nudity for my taste (I was shocked that it was broadcast at Beatlefest last August; saw a family with kids walk out). But it features The Beatles, so it's alright with me

Yes, this is a nudity warning if anyone is offended by this. When they first get to Hamburg, there is a pretty provocative scene with the boys and groupies with nudity, and one more tame one of Astrid, but it's only those scenes and the movie does not depend on this to carry it.

I didn't even think to mention this at first as the movie is so not about that.
There's also language.
A TV movie this is not.
I still highly recommend it for anyone who can handle an "R" rating. A different spin on the Beatle story.
