Has anyone seen this movie? It's really awful as far as movies go but it is quite interesting to see, and some of the covers are good (Aerosmith doing "Come Together").
Any thoughts?

You know it's gonna be...alright
Haven't seen the movie as yet, but that Aerosmith cover is one of my favourites.

Be warned, the movie is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!! I saw it in the theatre when it first came out (dating myself for sure, but it's not like people here don't already know how old I am!) and it's beyond dreadful.
There was an extensive article on it in the last issue of Daytrippin' -- I know you can't find it online, and it's a long one, but if I have time to transcribe it I'll post it here for your reading pleasure...give me a bit of time.
But be warned, it's AWFUL!

It is quite an awful movie. I've got the soundtrack on vinyl, and Aerosmith's "Come Together" is pretty much the only thing we can find on it that's worth listening.

I know, shame on me... can anyone tell me what's the movie about, and who has made it?

There really isn't much of a plot to this movie. The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton star in it. The one saving grace to it was the soundtrack. Several good cover versions are on it. All the songs were arranged and produced by George Martin, except "Got To Get You Into My Life" (produced by Maurice White) and "Come Together" (co-produced by Jack Douglas and George Martin).
Here's a run-down of what is offered on the soundtrack:
The Long And Winding Road - Peter Frampton
A Day In The Life - Barry Gibb, the Bee Gees
Golden Slumbers - Peter Frampton
Carry That Weight - The Bee Gees
Got To Get You Into My Life - Earth, Wind & Fire
Nowhere Man - The Bee Gees
Maxwell's Silver Hammer - Steve Martin
Get Back - Billy Preston
Polythene Pam - The Bee Gees
Oh! Darling - Robin Gibb
Because - Alice Cooper, the Bee Gees
Fixing A Hole - George Burns
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window - Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise) - Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees
Getting Better - Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees
With A Little Help From My Friends - Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees
Come Together - Aerosmith
Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite - Maurice Gibb, Peter Frampton, George Burns, the Bee Gees
Here Comes The Sun - Sandy Farina
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Bee Gees, Paul Nicholas
Good Morning, Good Morning - Paul Nicholas, Peter Frampton, the Bee Gees
I Want You (She's So Heavy) - The Bee Gees, Dianne Steinberg, Paul Nicholas, Donald Pleasence, Stargard
Mean Mr. Mustard - Frankie Howerd
She's Leaving Home - The Bee Gees, Jay MacIntosh, John Wheeler
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - Dianne Steinberg, Stargard
Strawberry Fields Forever - Sandy Farina
You Never Give Me Your Money - Paul Nicholas, Dianne Steinberg
When I'm Sixty-Four - Frankie Howerd, Sandy Farina

I first saw the movie when I was 13. We went to this one because it was raining out and we didn't want to wait in line to see STAR WARS (!). Regardless, this movie was my first personal Beatles experience; while I'd always been familiar with The Beatles' most popular songs, the tracks in the movie intrigued me, so when I later got the movie soundtrack album I fell in love with the songs, and when I later heard the original versions of the songs, I became a steadfast Beatles convert with no looking back
about five years ago I found the movie on video and bought it for old times' sake. What a bad, bad movie. I'm almost ashamed to still have my copies of the video and album
here's the plot description from the video box:
"Legend has it that during World I, enemies would lay down their arms each time Sgt. Pepper and his Lonely Hearts Club Band played. It was later discovered that Sgt. Pepper's musical instruments had the power to make dreams come true.
Twenty years later, Sgt. Pepper's grandson carries on the tradition of the Lonely Hearts Club Band. But as the band gains fame, they also gain enemies.
Patricia Birch choreographed and Michael Schultz directed this musical wonder that features several rock groups and many surprise stars such as Donald Pleasence, Steve Martin and George Burns along with a super score consisting of many magical Beatles' hits by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison."
what happens is that Billy Shears (Frampton) and the Henderson brothers (The Bee Gees) receive a recording contract, and so leave their hometown, Heartland, for Los Angeles and are tempted by corruption. As this is happening, the magical instruments used by the original Lonely Hearts Club Band get stolen by Mean Mr. Mustard, and are to empower villains. Frampton, the Gibbs and Frampton's girlfriend Strawberry Fields race to get the instruments back from Mustard (Frankie Howerd), Dr. Maxwell (Steve Martin), Alice Cooper (I don't remember his character's name), and the Future Villain Band (Aerosmith).
pretty lame plot for a pretty lame movie. The only actor who has lines is George Burns (Mr. Kite, mayor of Heartland), as he narrates what's going on. All the others 'act' as their versions of Beatles songs play. I remember reading somewhere that Frampton agree to participate because he was led to believe that Paul was to appear in a cameo as Sgt. Pepper. The role went to Billy Preston instead
the credits say that the music was arranged and directed by George Martin. In his book All You Need Is Ears he goes in depth on his role in the movie
I gotta admit that I still dig Aerosmith's version of "Come Together", Earth, Wind & Fire's "Got To Get You Into My Life", and Robin Gibb's "Oh! Darling" (featuring Jeff Beck on guitar)

This film should have been chopped up and made into guitar picks a week after release.
Interesting to note that -- to this day -- Peter Frampton feels this movie ruined his career -- in a karmic kind of way. He says he always felt he was being punished for daring to take on covering the Beatles!
Anyway, I do enjoy Aerosmith's "Come Together", but I really really really like Earth, Wind & Fire's funky/jazzy take on "Got To Get You Into My Life."

I have the LP and have seen the movie.
Bee Gees is another favorite band and knowing their relationship with the Beatles was fun to see them doing it.....till halfway the movie. BORING.
Some covers are good but the whole is a disaster. Even the Bee Gees wrote afterwards that they were not to happy with the result.
