''Del Shannon's 1991 posthumous "Rock On!" album, produced by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Mike Campbell, will be reissued through Evangeline Records' sister label, Acadia. Included will be the original 10 tracks, plus the three Silvertone B-sides, "Nobody's Business", "One Woman Man", and "Hot Love." In addition, the previously unreleased "You Don't Know What You've Got (Until You Lose It)", a cover of the old Ral Donner hit, rounds out the complete 1988 'Weddington Sessions' (Let's Dance / One Woman Man / Hot Love / You Don't Know What You've Got) which included three of the five Wilburys. This very special reissue of "Rock On!" finishes with "Songwriter," a ro ugh and raw demo-in-the-works which became Shannon's final composition and was found in his tape recorder at his untimely death. For purposes of historical completion, coupled with the extraordinary strength of this final composition, "Songwriter" is included for the first time anywhere. Available September 3, 2007 on Amazon"

Track Listing:

Songwriter (Demo)

George (guitar and/or b/vocal) appeared, with Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, on "Hot Love" (not on the original album, but originally released as a B side in 1991, and since then, it's been available only on one of of Del's compilations) and on the previously unreleased "You don't know what you've got (t'ill you loose it)". *

* George may also be on "One Woman Man", which was recorded at the same sessions as "Hot Love" and "You don't know what you've got"

At any rate it is a fantastic sounding, very Wilbury-sounding, album... even without the extra songs (last five songs on this re-issue) as was "Hot Love" though you can't actually make out George on it, so if any of the previously un-realeased tracks are near the same calibre, then the new version should wind up being a "keeper".

Tom plays on a couple or other songs on the album, and Jeff is on most of the the songs on it.

And what about that eery story about the very last song on the CD, indeed it was Del's very last song... period !
