For the first time last night, I watched The Beatles at Shea Stadium. Who else has seen this hilarious film?? I loved it! They just look so HAPPY throughout the show. The only thing that sucked is that it ended before they showed them singing I'm Down, which is hilarious because John and George are cracking up during it. Anyone have a favorite moment in the Shea Stadium video?

For the girls: Could The Beatles BE any sexier???????http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

Oh, I love that movie! The best part has to be "I'm Down" when John's playing the organ with his elbow and Paul grins and spins with this absolutely gleeful expression on his face!

And to answer your "for the girls" question, 4GF, "no". http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/grin.gif

I've never seen the whole video I've only seen the 'I'm down' clip. Is it possible to buy it anywhere?

" No I'm a mocker."

You can get if off eBay, HeyBeatle, that's the only place I know of. I don't think they make it anymore.

That "I'm Down" part IS the best but it's not even ON the video! It ends before they play that song, that sucked.

I've got a copy of the full show on CD and VHS. It was properly filmed and recorded. The video looks like a finished production with title and everything. My favorite moment? Uh, maybe the part where they show Brian Epstein standing on the field, bobbing his head to the music, watching nervously over his boys, but deep down enjoying the monster he had helped create.

Hey Jerry, was another one of your favorite parts the opening acts where that guy is screaming like an idiot and jumping around?? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif It makes me laugh SO hard! And he just keeps yelling over and over, "LET ME HEAR YOU SAY 'YEAH'!!!!!!!" Hilarious.

The funniest part (besides him dancing like a drunken zulu) is how he'd tell the audience to yell "YEAH", but the decibel level always stayed the same anyway! So the only idiots yelling were his band members!

That idiot and his band of morons knew damn good and well the audience wanted them off the stage SO THE BEATLES COULD COME ON, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH! People either at Shea or viewing it on a screen someplace were ANTSY for that band of Stooges to depart and THE BEATLES TO ARRIVE! (1965) Everybody and his children understandably jumped on board the Beatle Bandwagon and "yeah" was the word that one readily associated with the Beatles.

For me, making Beatle associations is almost a mental reflex.

Wonder where that drunken idiot who couldn't even sing in a green Chevrolet and his band of morons are now. They never even made a trivial pursuit chart statistic.

YES! BTBT, you MUST get this video for two major reasons:

1) The Beatles (obviously)

2) The drunken zulu guy dancing around screaming

Oh wait, there are three reasons:

3) John is dead sexy when he's sweating http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

John was sexy, period. John had a very earthy sex appeal and Paul had a very genteel, refined sex appeal (and still does). That distinctive way John stood on stage during the Beatles' early days...oh! That was SO sexy!

As for that drunken zulu dude, he had no idea the http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/joker.gif http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif at him! He looked right stupid up there, screaming and acting the fool. I wonder if he really was so clueless as to how antsy everyone was to get him off the stage and the Beatles on. I still don't think that kook even ended up as a trivia question. He's probably lost in obscurity and oblivion.

THE BEATLES ROCK AND STILL DO!

Anyway, back to Shea Stadium....I actually like all those cheesy opening acts! It gives you a sense of what it must have been like to go to a Beatles concert back then. It's not like concerts now where the main act plays for a couple of hours....it was more like a revue.

Can't wait to watch the Shea Stadium video... which reminds me... has anyone seen the Beatles video of their performance at the Budokan Hall in Japan? It's an absolute hoot because, as John & Paul are singing, their mics are actually moving around on the stage so bad that they're literally singing to the audience turned sideways! It's hysterical. At one point during a break you can see John visibly agitated trying to fix his mic stand and he says, "What is wrong with this bloody little microphone!" Hilarious stuff. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif

Just watched this video again, last night (for the gazillionth time). I have to say that this is one of the finest moments in The Beatles' collective career. Like Ocean Child, one of my favorite moments from the show is when John plays his Vox Continental organ, with his elbows. That was an absolute scream!! What I also found amusing was when Paul started booing along with crowds at security. The scenes with the security guards running after the fans in the infield of Shea Stadium cracks me up everytime I see it.http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif The only thing that disappoints me is that they chose to use the studio version of "Act Naturally", instead of the version they actually performed at Shea. Other than that, the show is an absolute ball to watch.http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif
