All right, what's everybody's favorite promo films by the Beatles (solo included)?

Mine would have to be "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Hello Goodbye". http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Definitely "Strawberry Fields Forever"! The concept of this promo film/video was really awesome. If you are one of the unlucky few who have yet to see it, you don't know what you're missing.

For solo videos, I really like George's "When We Was Fab". It just sends your mind back to when Beatlemania was all the rage.

My faves are some of the really cheesy ones like the one of "Help" with the fake snow and the "Day Tripper" one with Ringo sawing away at the set! I'm also fond of "Revolution" just because Paul looks so hot (as opposed to his usual "cute"). Solo faves...."Crackerbox Palace", "Baby's Request", Ringo & Buck's "Act Naturally", "Helen Wheels"....oh, stop me now before I list 'em all! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Oh, I like the "Strawberry Fields" and "Penny Lane" films...definitely the precursors to the modern music video!

I also really like Paul's video for "My Brave Face." Anyone remember that one -- the bits about the Japanese guy and the Beatles memorabilia...I thought it was brilliant and very funny, particularly since it was after Paul's problems in Japan...

I supposed "all of 'em" isn't the answer, so I won't say that. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif So many of them are cool! "Help!" is probably my favorite, altho' the "We can work it out" version with John and Paul exchanging sly looks always cracks me up. As for solos, I really like Paul's "Press". It brings back memories of England!

I really liked the "Free as a Bird" video, too, especially after all the hype and buildup, it was like "whew" they did it again! And Heinz Edelmann, the Yellow Sub designer said he was really pleased to see the Blue Meanies popping up in several places in that video.

"Free As A Bird" is my total favorite. But I also love the simplicity shown in promos like "Something", and, for solo works, "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "It Don't Come Easy"... Other ones I like: "When We Was Fab", "Weight Of The World", "Handle With Care", "C'mon People" (great one this one!), "This One" http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif and the new version of "(Just Like) Starting Over"... (Anyone seen this last one?)

I just watched a BBC2 Top of the Pops special where Paul analysed the origin of various of his songs and with Coming Up he said, that after he made the video, the director of that video took it with him.

He met the guy who was at that time John's producer, so John got to see the video before release and his comment was. Oh God, Paul has doen a good job, this means I have to go to work. Which he did.

I think the skeleton in the FAAB video is a reference to the Paul is Dead stuff (i.e. The photo on the White Album poster that looks like it has skeleton hands reaching out for Paul)...

My fave promos are FAAB, Something and quite possibly the NEW Hey Bulldog video (studio footage not the animated Yellow Sub scene).

ABC's 20/20 program premiered it the week of the "Yellow Sub" video re-release. It is essentially the "Lady madonna" video re-edited to "Hey Bulldog" becoz that is what they were actually recording in the studio when they needed a promo film for "LM">

My favorite bit is John & Paul standing together during the end where Paul is barking! "What'd You Say?" "I said WOOF!"

It is very well put together abd the lads look great!

I seem to finally have something that neither Bearkat nor Nowhere Man have (Beatles-refered, of course... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif): the "Hey Bulldog" new video... It's amazing, because, as George said once, it was one of the few times that The Beatles were filmed actually recording something... Plus you get the idea of who did what: in some scenes you see Ringo on drums, John on piano and vocals, George on lead guitar and Paul shaking two tambourines; and in some others you get to see Paul adding more bass and John adding more guitar and the both of them in one microphone, overdubbing the vocals so you get to see the whole "you know anymore" dialogue... It's soooo http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cool2.gif

I found a spot where you can download the new "Hey Bulldog" video.

Ther is a new site that very "Napster-ish" called http://www.musiccity.com

You need to download a Morph software (free)and then you can download audio, VIDEO, anything!!

It's a share service like Nap so sometimes things are available , sometimes they aren't but I found HB there in the video part as "Hey Bulldog (99 mix)".

Good luck and good viewing!
