Yes, you are sick. I haven't seen it, but I've seen pics. from it and the guy that's supposed to look like John looks freaky! I also hate it cause in a Beatle magazine I have they showed a pic. from it and said it was John! Grrrr...

I thought it was good entertainment as well. They stayed pretty close to the books. You just have to get past what they look like and get into the attitude. Lookalikes are lame anyway. Just look at the Paul dude in this movie for example.

Probably on books like this one, with the same name as the film:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0670847305/qid=983486173/sr=1-10/ref=sc_b_10/104-8502511-5051115

Even though the author is Giuliano.

You can't pass judgement unless you've seen it. Go watch it, and then I'll give you permission to say I'm sick.

Many of the books focus on different details but the main events are the same. Like Paul playing 20 Flight Rock to impress John, and tuning his guitar for him. things like that were in this movie.

The idea is, what if Paul and John had gotten together in 76 or 77.

I think the idea was kinda neat, and the actors kinda had that thing about them where if you glance at them there is a resemblance but if you take a long hard look they look really different. It was neat to see as a one time thing but I don't think I need to see it again.

I really liked Two Of US. I think they really captured the essence of their post-Beatles feelings. It had some humour as well; pure fantasy, of course. But I, for one, enjoyed the fantasy of Paul and John smoking a doobie in Central Park and confronting the mounted policeman, funny stuff, biting humour Lennon/ McCartney syle.
No, they didn't look like them, but I thought Adian Quinn had McCartney's mannerisms down to a tee.John came off a bit wimpy to me, but his scene in the resteraunt with the fan was pure Lennon sarcasm and wit. (Like I knew these guys, who am I to say?)
Loved it, wish I taped it. Two thumbs up!

That's the only part that i didn't like. I thought the scene was too cute and trying too hard to be anti-establishment.

StPaulyGirl, don't waste your time if you really mean that. I've grown up in the 60's and was there. It doesn't matter in your adult life. It's kind of like worrying about being cool in high school. Once you move on, it doesn't matter anymore.

Are you kidding? I'm a blue-collar suburban wife and mother of two.I don't know how much more white-bread I can be! I vote, pay taxes, and only been out of work six months in my entire fifteen-year career.
Now to be anti- establishment on the INSIDE is quite a different story, and you don't have to be a hippie to realise this.
I'd rather be home with the kids, not have a large chunk taken of my check every time I work overtime, and for ONCE, vote for someone who I truley and honostly think would make a difference.Everyone's a little anti-establishment on the inside, I think.
Yeah, my mom's generation had a little more reason to be so,but until there are no more school shootings(from this generation of so-called ant-establishment thinkers),people doing time for smoking marijuana while child molesters walk free,I'm a little anti-establishment.Go figure.
Peace, love, and all that good stuff that makes it all worth-while...(it's just another day)!

Dunno, I didn't care for the movie very much...perhaps I was just too conscious of the actors being actors, you know? And I like Aidan Quinn, too -- but not as Paul! A friend of mine made a very astute observation -- how come Aidan Quinn is an attractive man, and Paul McCartney is an attractive man, but Aidan Quinn AS Paul McCartney is NOT an attractive man!? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/laugh2.gif

All these telemovies suffer from their share of inaccuracies and silliness...of course, Two of Us was completely fictional, but I still didn't like it very much. That and the fact that I could tell just by looking at it that they didn't film it in New York -- but perhaps that's nit-picking!

No, you are not alone. It wasn't the BEST thing I've ever seen but it's a good fantasy!

Mr. Quinn absolutely "NAILS" the Macca mannerisms with the finger/nose scratching, the look skyward, the stance, etc.

The Lennon character was weaker by far.

But the rooftop scene in which Paul tells John what he thinks could have easily happened in my book.

Apologies for the blatant name-dropping, but I had my bit to do with that movie. I run a Beatle Tour Company from the Jacaranda (lucky me) and was actualy employed as Aidan Quinn's guide when he came to research the character. To pick up on a few of your points..
1/ Aidans character was stronger than Jared Harris who played Lennon - Aidan put much time & effort into his portrayal, spending a few days in Liverpool, which is crucial - Jared didnt (as far as I know - well not with me anyway!!)
2/ Backbeat was proably better - interesting, because it was actually Ian Hart (John Lennon)who brought Aidan to the City - he came along on the tour too.. Lennon AND McCartney in the back of a taxi http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
3/ Aidan / Paul - both attractive - but Aidan as Paul??? - There are two reasons for this BLUE EYES!! Aidan is gorgeous because he has beautiful blue eyes, paul is gorgeous with his deep brown ones - mix them up & it dont work!!
Just to rub it all in - I actually sat on Paul McCartneys bed in Forthlin Road with Aidan Quinn http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/inlove2.gif (only sat unfortunately http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/devil1.gif )
