Long ago in the late 1960's, Eric Clapton played the guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
For decades he played guitar on quite some of George's songs.
That' What It Takes though has I think the longest and most prominent guitar solo after the song from the White Album. I absolutely love this solo.
Which of the two do you prefer and maybe tell a bit about why?

My preference is the song from Cloud 9.
The solo is very touching and has the Old Clapper at his best.
The various backing guitars are inspirational for the solo he performs. It is partly weeping again. Better to me than While My Guitar...

hmmm well I knew my answer right away. But I had to listen again. My choice is 'That's What It Takes' also. I have always thought that the solo in WMGGW came on a little too strong.
Of course I must add, I find it difficult to make these opinions. I just listen. For one, even tho I knew Clapton was on that album...I am not aware of which part/s are his. My ears arent that good ;) But I have loved the work on Cloud Nine from the start.

Well, I evened it up. The solo at the end of TWIT is beautiful, yes, but the solo from WMGGW has teeth. It's one of the things that makes the White Album version of the song so powerful.
