Just read that the soundtrack of ''The US vs. John Lennon'' will be coming out on September 26th...
... and that it will feature an intrumental version of ''How do you sleep ?''
Well, I liked the ''real'' version of it just fine but having it without John's vocal would only make George's contribution to it seem even more predominant, no ?
Heck, one could almost put that CD with his or her other Harrison material, instead of John's.
... mind you, there's no word as to how badly, if it is, edited this version of the song might be.

I have a few instrumental versions from rehearsals of How Do You Sleep on bootlegs. It does sound awesome indeed and brings more attention to George's guitar play.

Anyone seen the film ? *
* The instrumental version of ''How do you sleep'' in it = the original/official version, minus the vocals, or is it a demo/alternate version ?
If it is the original/official version, was it edited to shorten it ?

Hence, as much as Ringo (and George, on the alternate version) did a fine job singing it, an instrument version of ''It don't come easy'' would have been very cool !

From what I have read the film will be in the theatres as from September 15th 2006.
Just as a little footnote - There is a thread abut the movie as such in Menlove Avenue
http://www.beatlelinks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27149
where you can also see a trailer from the upcoming film, so I suggest we stick to How Do You Sleep here and anything related to the film as such can be discussed at Menlove Avenue.
But...yeah it is very interesting to find out which version of How Do You Sleep made it to the film. There is a whole lot of demos from the song including a reggae version which was shown in a Lennon Documentary "The Making Of Imagine" I believe where you can see a lot of George during the rehearsals of this song.

I was at one of my bootleg stores today to pick up the Living In The Material World package and he had the new Paul things like the Classical album...but also the soundtrack to this John film and I asked him about this...he knows about the many bootleg versions of this song...
but he told me that the publishing company to this film had asked if they could use some instrumental music behind the documentary parts of this and had asked about certain songs.
So...as he told me...so do not hold it against me...the company got the tape from this song of the original album however without the vocals...
That would mean there is nothing really new...but it is awesome that they choose this.

I am playing this track now from the soundtrack album and it is NOT just the instrumental version without John's vocal.
It is one of the versions which appear on bootlegs where you hear the electric piano very much upfront as also George's guitarwork really very well.
It is pretty awesome actually.
