I saw LOVE at the Mirage in Las Vegas last night. Before I say anything else, just let me say, if you are true Beatle fan, make plans however you can but GO TO VEGAS AND SEE THE CULMINATION OF THE BEATLES DREAM!!!! It was HEAVEN!

I bought tickets to one of the preview shows ages ago from Beatles.com and had perfect seats. It's in the old Sigfried and Roy theater that has been turned into a psyedelic explosion. There is a fab gift shop with tons of Beatle merch (and $44 Love T-shirts. Ugh) and a Beatle themed concession/drink area. When you get it, lots of bobbies take your tickets and meter maids show you to your seat (all with cokney accents).

There is so much going on in the show that I can't comment on it all. Two things at the start. 1) Having experienced Beatle music on LSD, this is 100 TIMES BETTER! You are fully inside the music, including speakers in your seat. 2) Giles and George Martin have done a brilliant job restructuring the Beatle songs. Some have complained about the mash-up approach, but it works so well, you will feel like you are hearing the Fabs for the first time.

The show basically starts on the rooftop of Apple and with the bombing of London and ends with an explosion of color for "All You Need Is Love." Here are a few of my favorite moments.

1) Lots of George music, including an amazing version of "Within You, Without You," in which the entire audience is envelopped in a masssive white sheet.

2) The Martins have found scraps of Beatle dialogue that pop up making you feel that J,P,G, & R are actually in the show, including a shadow Beatles scene that made me cry with joy.

3) Octupus' Garden will never be the same. People were weeping during "Something."

4) The Come Together number had a strange bootleg mix coming through the seat-speakers featuring some rare Paul and John backing vocals that freaked me out!

5) One of the stars of the show is a Beetle. The VW Beetle with the 28 IF plate from Abbey Road. One of the many nods to hardcore fans.

There was so much more. Apparently, George & Giles are in Abbey Road right now mixing the soundtrack in 5.1. Paul saw the show last week. Ringo is in town next weekend (performing at Mandalay Bay) and is supposed to attend allong with Yoko and Olivia. This show is so complex, the ceiling structure looks like the Borg Cube (lots of Borg down the street at the Hilton), so it will never go on the road. This is it. The most complete Beatle experience those that missed Shea Stadium will ever have. I'll post more thoughts below as they come to me, but seriously, this is the rainy day you have been saving up for.

As a side note, we stayed at the Sahara where the Fabs stay on April 19, 1964, just a few floors below their suite (Room 2344). Also where Elvis stayed while filming "Viva Las Vegas." Apparently, the Beatles loved The House of Lords resturant their as their picture in it is all over the casino. :laugh5:

Sounds like a fab show. If my husband goes to Las Vegas next year for a conference, I'll have to tag along and see this.

It looks like this topic got posted twice, and since there are more replies here (http://www.beatlelinks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=27190), I'll close this one.
