REVOLT. REVELATION. REVOLVER!
How do you distil the career of the greatest pop band ever into one track that tops a body of work which has defined the very way in which we think about music?

101 GREATEST BEATLE SONGS This month MOJO Magazine corrals a legion of Beatles' fans - some rather famous - and get them to vote for their favourite Fab Four track. From R&B rip-snorters to avant-rock freakouts, perfect pop to primal screams, MOJO's 101 Greatest Beatles Songs countdown presents pure Beatle brilliance, picked, pruned and praised to the skies by an all-star panel including Noel Gallagher, Yoko Ono, U2, Ozzy, Paul Weller, Arcade Fire and many more musical gratefuls.

THE STORY OF REVOLVER 40 years on, how the Beatles wrought rock 'n' roll's first sonic revolution. By Barry Miles, engineer Geoff Emerick, and sleeve artist Klaus Voormann. And! Paul McCartney on the Beatles songs that still make him say "I wrote that?!"

Great pic. I don't think I've seen it before, but it looks familiar, definitley from the Rain/Paperback Writer shoot. But is that one pic or editied together to look like one?

P.S. It comes with a free cd of the Revolver album covered. So those that complain about lousy cover versions, just remember, you don't have to listen to it (or buy it for that matter)

The cover looks like it has Paul from the indoor shoot of Paperback Writer,
Goerge and John from the outdoor one, and Ringo, I can't tell. Can't wait
to check this out. 1966 is one of my fave Beatle years. :cool1:

Ringo is from the indoor shot of the Beatles working on Paperback Writer, where they talk to Ed Sullivan.

FYI, the issue is #152/July 2006. The Mojo website has it incorrectly listed as issue #151/June 2006. It is available at Tower Records now.

My dad bought the magazine just before the weekend!! I've already taken the CD from him and listened to it and I'll get the magazine back from him soon aswell!! Then i can have a good read!
The 101 greatest songs is quite intresting, but they are all opinions so I don't agree with everything! I won't say what number 1 is! (I read a bit of it breifly before he took off)

It's a great issue and the CD of Revolver covers is really smashing. I just can't believe that "Dig A Pony" isn't in the top 101!

Yeah, John and George are in the Park (Twickenham?) setting, and Paul and Ringo are in the Twickenham studios setting.

what are your opinion on the picks fluxus? I of course don't agree with their 'shabby' pics. Did you see they are asking for the readers top ten via email?

That's a great issue! If you don't have it, I'd definitely recommend it. Although I don't agree with the song listing, it's still an interesting read.

Also, although most of the cd of Beatle cover songs pretty much blows, the version of Here, There, & Everywhere is awesome, IMO.

Alright, I just got the magazine and the Reloaded CD is brutal to even listen to!
I agree 4No1, the only decent song on there is Here There And Everywhere.
The song For No One is alright too.

As for the list of Top 100. I totally saw A Day In The Life coming.
Why does everyone love that song so much!?! I'm lost.

I listened to about 3 songs on there and then gave up as I thought it was pretty bad!
I'll listen to Here, there and everywhere and For no one again to see what I think!

Yeah It was rather typical that A day in the life hit number 1! I've had the magazine for weeks now and still havn't read past about 80 odd! I have some reading to do!!
