I've posted this here rather than in the Menlove Ave. forum so more people will see it.
If your'e in the UK and can get to Bath on April 11, Cynthia Lennon will be at the Theatre Royal. It's something connected with her book, 'John'.
Tickets are £10, or £21.50 if you wan't a lunch included.

I'm definately going to go! Just down the road from me! Could you tell me what she did when you saw her, Asha?

Sure, Paul.
They had two things here. One was called "A Personal Interview" & one was called a "Reception". The Personal Interview was conducted by a local representative of the venue who had read the book. He asked questions about various things in the book & had her tell a bit about some of the stories.
After about 40 minutes of that, there was an open question & answer session where the audience could ask Cyn a question. I found that to be more interesting as we can read her stories in the book & the audience (fans) had much better questions! :teeth1:
From there, we went into another room where there were refreshments & such. After a bit, Cyn came in & signed her book for anyone who wanted.
She was very nice & shared some nice stories with us. Overall I thought it was quiet enjoyable & I'm glad I was able to go. I'm not sure what they'll do over there, but just meeting her was quite nice.
Please let us know how it was after you've gone!

Asha, did you ask her a question?
Asha

I didn't... Actually I had something I wanted to tell her, but I was having camera issues & felt that probably took enough of her time. :laugh5:

I would have asked something silly like "was George just adorable?"
And even sillier, "Did you ever, in Fiji, sort of check George out?" :laugh5:

Wish you would've been there! I would've loved to have heard more about George! :laugh5:

"Er, yes, Ms. Lennon, enough about John. Let's talk about George!"
Asha

Well, people did ask some questions about Paul, George & Ringo. It was nice to hear the various things she had to say about each of them. Of course, she did talk mostly about John! Not that I minded one bit! :laugh5:

Damn! I studied abroad in Bath recently, and lived quite near to the Theatre Royal...but there's no chance of seeing Cyn there now, as I'm stateside once again :cry3: I would love to hear her speak about both John and the book. Lucky UK-ers!

She's currently in the States. Check around & see if she'll be near you! :teeth1:

Thanks for the info, Asha! I tried looking for a webpage that might list dates of her book tour, but didn't come up with much. Anybody know of such a site?

I've tried to find out more & can't seem to find anything. Too bad, isn't it? She'd probably sell more books if people knew where to find her to have them signed. (On the other hand, maybe she's getting writer's cramp & doesn't want to sign any more! :laugh5: ) Good luck everyone! :teeth1:

I only found out through a leaflet I picked up at the theatre. Your best bet is to probably phone the Theatre Royal

Oh that'll work! Just tell her about the tall lady in Colorado who's camera wouldn't work & she closed her eyes when the camera finally did work, so she waited until the end to try again! :laugh5:

It was very enjoyable, very glad I was able to go today. Got my book signed too!
One interesting comment from the interviewer:
Interviewer: You know that book, Men are from Mars Women are from Venus? You could say Yoko is from another planet altogether...
Cynthia: Well, you said that...!!
Another interesting question was whether she is still in contact with Paul and Ringo. She isn't, but said she still has paul's phone number, and she would like to be able to spend some time with Paul and Ringo to remmenice about old times.

I am pleased I went too and I thought the bedroom set was quite funny and the fact they gave her a dodgy chair, i thought the interviewer was abit ditzy and asked silly questions now and again but it was ok, i really really wanted to ask a question but chickened out :teeth1:

What were you going to ask?!
sadie
Apr 11, 2006, 01:28 PM
well she said she only had good memories of Rishikesh and I wanted to ask her what her opinion was on the story that has emerged that the real reason the Beatles stormed out was cos the Maharishi was pissed off with their drug taking and not cos of the alledged thing with Mia Farrow.

Oh good question. I wrote up what she said at ours. I wish I could post it somewhere for everyone to read. It's too long as a regular post.

I would have liked to have asked if its true that she asked John to re-marry her in 1974 and have another child with him, and if she was for real.
In keith Badman's excellent 'The Dream is Over' book, there is a letter printed from John, where he claims she asked him to get back with her during the lost weekend period.

Where were you sat? I was in the third row from the front (c) next to the girl who said she went to liverpool art college, can't remember what question she asked now.
Paul

I was on the end of row G, a few rows behind.
That girls question was praising Cynthia for presenting herself and her story completely opposite to the stereotype of the 'dizzy blonde' so many Beatles and Lennon books have portrayed her as. Or something like that!

I have to say even though i have seen millions of pic of Cynthia, she still didn't look like i expected, she has a striking resemblence to the Dalai Llama.
