Not really "bad taste". But I work in Photoshop programs all the time, and someone went through a little bit of work to do that to the Abbey Road image.... and I have to ask, "WHY?"

I don't think it's in poor taste at all. It is a poignant reminder of how time affects us all, even our hereos.

Me too.........

Actually earlier the other day it hit me.... Ringo and Paul will probably pass in my lifetime, and I don't want that to happen.... but.....things like that do happen. Sorry if I am being painfully pessimistic here.'

I wouldn't say the picture is distastefull, because it's the truth, the real truth, and sometimes, the truth is not always what we want to see. I know alot of the time it's easy for me to almost foget the fact that John and George are dead, because hearing their old songs they both sound so alive, but then I come back to reality, and that feeling is very similar to the ones this picture evoked. So no.... it isn't IMHO distasteful it's just the truth........... but it is sad very, very sad

Yeah, for some reason this picture is, is the word happier?, than the first Abbey Road pic. It seems like a better image for John & George to be together w/o Paul & Ringo, rather than Paul & Ringo w/o John & George...

I'm surprised a lot of people are using Abbey Road, and nobody's using The Beatles 1962-1966 or 1967-1970. This way, someone with Photoshop skills could take away Paul & Ringo and you have John & George looking down against a white banister, symbolizing heaven. The Beatles 1962-1966 might be a little better than 67-70 cause they're smiling a bit more. Does anyone think they could do that?

That's actually quite brilliant! I've always toyed with the thought of what a mature and older John would have looked like and this sort of solves the puzzle for me. Thanks. Alt6hough I alkways pictured him to have a receding hairline. But it's quite good, it looks real!

To me, the only thing that really changed was his eyes got redder & he got more freckley. I'll let you discuss it...

BTW - if anyone's interested, I use http://www.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~morph/ for these transformations.. I think it's better than the one T-Mobile has. Use it on your friends, or on yourself! Or if you're feeling brave, use your fav. Beatle!

Yeah, I think John looks a bit scary in that pic. Imagine, a Beatle with no hair! It's a great pic though. If anyone has any more of these, I'd love to see them.

(Rev99 - I know you weren't trying to stir up the pot with your previous comment, but I did want to point out that when Paul blurted his infamous "it's a drag" line it was probably more from shock, and not knowing what to say to the press, than from lack of caring about John's death. I've read multiple accounts from people who were with Paul that day (George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Denny Laine) and they all say he was visibly shaken and emotional. Keeping everything bottled up is just how Paul deals with loss (see how he handled Brian Epstien's death for another example.) I'm not trying to change the way you feel about Paul or tell you what to do, but I personally don't think it makes a lot of sense to hold that particular comment against Paul forever.)

Itīs quite large but it is worth to read, especially the first part (Playboy interview). Paul is expressing here all his feelings about Johnīs death.

http://members.tripod.com/~taz4158/macint.htm

An excerpt:
"PLAYBOY: Paul, it's been nearly four years since John Lennon died and you
haven't really talked about your partnership and what his death meant to
you. Can you talk about it now?

PAUL: It's . . . it's just too difficult . . . very feel that if I said
anything about John, I would have to sit here for five days and say it
all. Or I don't want to say anything.

LINDA: I'm like that.

PAUL: I know George and Ringo can't really talk about it.

PLAYBOY: How did you hear of John's death? What was your first reaction?

PAUL: My manager rang me early in the morning. Linda was taking the kids
to school.

LINDA: I had driven the kids to school and I'd just come back in. Paul's
face, ugh, it was horrible--even now, when I think of it. . . .

PAUL: A bit grotty.

LINDA: I knew something had happened. . . .

PAUL: It was just too crazy. We just said what everyone said; it was all
blurred. It was the same as the Kennedy thing. The same horrific moment,
you know. You couldn't take it in. I Can't.

LINDA: It put everybody in a daze for the rest of their life. It'll never
make sense.

PAUL: I still haven't taken it in. I don't want to.

PLAYBOY: Yet the only thing you were quoted as saying after John's
assassination was, "Well, it's a drag."

PAUL: What happened was we heard the news that morning and, strangely
enough, all of us--the three Beatles, friends of John's--all of us
reacted in the same way. Separately. Everyone just went to work that day.
All of us. Nobody could stay home with that news. We all had to go to
work and be with people we knew. Couldn't bear it. We just had to keep
going. So I went in and did a day's work in a kind of shock. And as I was
coming out of the studio later, there was a reporter, and as we were
driving away, he just stuck the microphone in the window and shouted,
"What do you think about John's death?" I had just finished a whole day
in shock and I said, "It's a drag." I meant drag in the heaviest sense of
the word, you know: "It's a--drag." But, you know, when you look at that
in print, it says, "Yes, it's a drag." Matter of fact."
...............................
