Happy birthday, Shadow.

2005 was not a good year for me, but it was half a baby step above sucky 2004. I am serious - if 2004 was a duck and I was a hunter, I'd blow its head off! I hate 2004!

1961:

Sam Leach's first attempt at promoting a concert in the south of England ends in disaster at the Palais Ballroom, Aldershot. As he isn't known to them, the local newspaper refuses to accept his cheque for an advertisment, and as he neglects to leave his telephone number with them, his ad isn't run. The Beatles arrive at an empty hall: no-one knows the 'Battle of the Bands' is happening. A quick run round the local coffee bars asking people to come to a free dance results in an audience of 18.

I've got a copy of the poster of the 9th December Aldershot gig. Originals are priceless!

One of the guys who went with the group down to Aldershot was Terry McCann - a guy I know. I know know if any photos exist with him in there but he was talking about what happened - i.e. the group members occasionally coming off stage to go dance with one of the people who were there, and when it was empty John and Paul played football / soccer with something they found on the floor.
