I am constantly having nightmares in which all my teeth become loose and start falling out. Out of curiousity I did an internet search about this and was suprised to discover that this type of dream happens quite often to people. The intrepretations as to what it means are all over the place unfortuneately. One site suggests that it has to do with anxiety while another suggests it has to do with how we feel about our physical appearence. But honestly, they are too many interpretations to list here.
I am just curious to know if anyone else has this sort of dream?

You're not alone Matt, I have dreams like and dreams about hair falling out, and I always always dream that I am always too late for all kinds of things.

Maybe it's subconscious guilt about eating too many savoy truffles? :wink1:

Actually matt you are absolutely correct....it is a common recurring dream for many...and I am one of them.
It is quite a scary feeling too, at least for me, because it seems so real. When I frist started having them I was afraid I would choke to death in my sleep...
I have been tempted to 'chart' when I have them to see if it is indeed because of anxiety or what..haven't done that yet.
It is also kind of odd, very often when I have these dreams, the dreams in themselves are 'darker'.....and often include my first boyfirend......wonder what that means????
In your dreams do they just become loose and fall out or do they crumble?

That's weird - I've never had a dream where MY teeth fall out, but just last night I had a dream where a friend of mine fell down and chomped his teeth together and they crumbled and fell out! What an odd coincidence is that?!?

Yes I have plenty of times. In fact sometimes it's because I'd be grinding my teeth in my sleep and I wouldn't even know it until the morning. I'd know because my teeth would feel all tight. That's not always the case, sometimes I'd dream of my teeth falling out because I was stressed out about something.

I've had a dream like that once. It was while I still had braces, and I had a dream that they got really really big, and then shrunk down, and they kept doing that...

In fact, it's one of the most common dreams to almost everyone. But the interpretation would be different according each person. For instance, I dreamt that my under teeth were falling when I was in dental treatment. The teeth falling out may represent an important familiar lost to another person, and to another one a failure, I don't know.
What I'm trying to say, it's that an unique meaning to your dreams doesn't exist.

I've had dreams like that too, and they're so real that when I wake up in the morning I have to check to make sure all my teeth are still there.

I am not one to remember my dreams since adulthood, but I used to dream that I went to school all the time and forgot to wear/or put my shoes on, when I was a kid.... :afraid2:

This may sound a bit too simplistic a solution, but maybe it's because you're unknowingly neglecting some aspect of your dental health. Each area of the body has a neural link to some particular region(s) of the brain, so maybe brushing and flossing more conscientiously with more attention to detail will in effect serve to brush and floss the orally associated regions of the brain and help bring a sense of closure to the subconscious unrest in those provinces.
I know, it sounds like a hokey theory, but there it is!
I must be in the minority of people who have not had any of these body-decaying kinds of dreams. My relationship to my teeth is somewhat cordial. If my teeth or gums are feeling uncomfortable, then I sort of mentally tell them I'm sorry they feel that way and that I think they'll feel better soon (and sure enough, they do feel better). And when I brush my teeth, I get the feeling that my teeth and gums are grateful for my assistance in making them feel all clean and dapper.

When I was little once I remember I had a dream that my teeth were coming out and I know I was in a train and not to be gross or anything but I remember my mouth was full of blood. I haven't thought about that for awhile really. My family is very superstitious and I remember telling my aunt about it and she told me something but it was so long ago that I don't remember. I think that she said something will happen to a family member..
