What song do you want to be played at your funeral? I know everyone is going to say "In My Life".
I'd want In My Life, We'll Meet Again (1940s war song not Beatles), I'm Only Sleeping, and/or Strawberry Fields Forever

If I die in a car crash A Day In The Life.
Suicide- Eleanor Rigby? Yer Blues? Nowhere Man? I'm a Loser?

Not something I really want to think about just now.

There are basically two (secret) things I really want to get accomplished in this life. If those two don't get done, then no song will let me rest in peace. And if those two things get done, then I'll be happy to leave this world by having my ashes scattered at a windy place, attended by a few friends, and letting the vibrational waves of music latent in the atmosphere carry my weightless spirit onward to my new home.

I dislike the expense and embellishment of traditional funerals. Dust to dust is literally the best and most beautiful way to go for me. If anyone plays a tune at the end of my life, it will be for their sake and not mine.

Dancing Queen - ABBA.

You think I'm joking. I want my funeral to be the best party I never got to go to. Of course, my relatives would probably screw it up and make it all somber and crap, but, dammit, I want ABBA to send my soul into the great beyond!

When I die, I DON'T want an obit OR a funeral.

The songs I would choose are:

In My Life
Here Comes the Sun
Let it Be
The Long & Winding Road
She Loves You
Here Today
All Things Must Pass
What is Life
Dear One

Instead of a funeral, I would want whoever was involved to throw a Beatle party, dance, have fun and enjoy themselves like I would do. I want to be remembered with smiles and Beatles, not a funeral and again, I DO NOT want an obit.

Ummmm...maybe the Kinks "Days"? As Lynn said, it's not something I spend much time thinking about at this point.

'All Things Must Pass' and 'In My Life'. My girlfriend made me promise that 'All Things Must Pass' will be played at her funeral.......and if I'm still around it will be!

This is a great idea. I want the same when I pass away.

God, what a morbid thread!

My boyfriend has always said that when he dies, he wants "Standing on the Moon" by the Grateful Dead to be played at his funeral. He actually has the MP3 saved on our media player, and whenever it comes on, I have to rush over and change it because it makes me think of my boyfriend dead...

Me? Well, I don't need to worry about it. I'm immortal. :wink1:

What if you need your body to be intact to enter heaven?

If you believe in heaven, that is...

Honestly, I'm with Lynn and Rell, I don't spend much time thinking about this kind of thing and hope I won't have to for a long time.

I mean the body you leave behind...

Which isn't "intact" after all the maggots and worms and bacteria get to it...

I don't spend time thinking about it either, but since the question was raised, I thought I'd see how to answer it. I hope to have a long and healthy Beatle filled life with people.

I'd want In My Life, We'll Meet Again (1940s war song not Beatles),

The Vera Lynn version? :smile1: Those two would be among my choices as well... although I'm hoping my funeral won't have to be planned for a number of years still!

I'd like feel-good songs to be played, besides the above two, preferably nothing too nostalgic or sad. Maybe some good George Harrison tunes, like "Here Comes the Sun", "What is Life", "Cheer Down", and "When We Was Fab". I've also got a list of 60's (non-Beatles) songs that have been among my favorites for years, I'd like them to be played and for others to enjoy those as much as I have! :smile1:

The Vera Lynn version?

"Pink Floyd - Vera"

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn
Remember how she said that
We would meet again
Some sunny day
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you
Does anybody else in here
Feel the way I do ?

What if you need your body to be intact to enter heaven?

well what if you were blown to bits by a mine or burned in a fire by accident, does that mean you can't get to heaven because your body was disintegrated?

That reminds me of a conversation Archie and Meathead had on a 1972 episode of "All in the Family" when they were arguing over donated organs and entry to heaven. It was really funny!

Jorge and I have made a pact that we are cremated and our ashes mixed with earth to grow an big plant and everyone smokes us at a big party.
I found that strangely funny and clever.

I'd prolly like a Beatles song at my funeral, o' course. Perhaps " Here Comes the Sun" or something. I donno - I'm not sure. And it's real morbid to think about..

There is one capmfire song called "Happy Trails" that's perfect for my funeral. :wink2:
