Cool,

good to see that some of my other sixties favourite artists are well represented, like the Monkees and Creedence.

Is there a UK version too, mr statistic, would love to see that one (don't say it's already here)

Yeah. remember that Michael Jackson's album 'Thriller' sold over 42 million copies before they had to pull it because they couldn't keep up with demand.

Didn't Beatles 1 sell over 20 million copies?

You're right, Harb.I was too conservative in that statement. They would be selling upwards of 40 mill each, then.

A very thought-provoking list, Wolf. How's the progress going on your site?

Interesting how the early albums sold less than the late ones. It's all relative to the times. If the Beatles had happened today, they would be selling 20 milliion or more.

Thanks everybody!

Bearkat, don`t mention my site, I haven`t found the time doing it yet, as I have so much to work at the moment (unexpectedly) and it will probably remain that way for some time...I only find time to do little stuff like the above list from time to time.

Taking out the Beatles albums only does show an impressive list.

Note the big difference between Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour.

I would have guessed Revolver and Rubber Soul would have been ranked higher.

01) The Beatles (White Album)/The Beatles (19 million)
02) Abbey Road/The Beatles (12m)
04) Sgt. Pepper`s Lonely Hearts Club Band/The Beatles (11m)
06) Magical Mystery Tour/The Beatles (6m)
06) Rubber Soul/The Beatles (6m)
08) Meet The Beatles/The Beatles (5m)
08) Revolver/The Beatles (5m)
13) A Hard Day`s Night/The Beatles (4m)
15) Help!/The Beatles (3m)
15) Beatles `65/The Beatles (3m)
21) Something New/The Beatles (2m)
21) The Beatles` Second Album/The Beatles (2m)
21) Yesterday And Today/The Beatles (2m)

Btw, if "A Hard Day`s Night" is counted in all its released formats, it would be around 9 million. The original United Artists Soundtrack from 1964 was never certified by the RIAA, because UA wasn`t interested in certifiying it. Thus the sales of AHDN from 1964 to 1978 are not included in this list (which are at least 5 million - that`s what AHDN sold in 1964 alone). In 1978, Capitol Records got the rights to AHDN Soundtrack. The 4 million for AHDN are since 1978 only.

29? Not bad. But I guess you were around in the 70s, right? I have 11 of them (70s), without being around then!

"Rumours" is the non-Beatle one I like the most. Great list by the way.
