The Beatles attempt at hard rock/metal and I must say done very well. Paul's voice is tremendous. IMO the second best song on the White Album (after WMGGW). So let's get ready to "go back to the top of the slide" with Helter Skelter!

The Lyrics

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again.

Do you, don’t you want me to love you.
I’m coming down fast but I’m miles above you.
Tell me tell me tell me come on tell me the answer.
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Helter skelter helter skelter
Helter skelter.

Will you, won’t you want me to make you.
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you.
Tell me tell me tell me the answer.
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Look out helter skelter helter skelter
Helter skelter
Look out, cause here she comes.

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
And I get to the bottom and I see you again.

Well do you, don’t you want me to love you.
I’m coming down fast but don’t let me break you.
Tell me tell me tell me the answer.
You may be a lover but you ain’t no dancer.

Look out helter skelter helter skelter
Helter skelter
Look out helter skelter
She’s coming down fast
Yes she is yes she is.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make

You know it's gonna be...alright

Another good one, BM!! "Helter Skelter" was definitely one of their heavier tunes. How I would love to get my hands on the 30 minute version of that song. I know some have mentioned the U2 cover version, but I disntinctly remember the Motley Crue cover being a favorite of mine during my teen metalhead years. The bottom line is "Helter Skelter" is my favorite tune from the "White Album" bar none. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

"Helter Skelter" was straight ahead rock'n'roll. The Beatles showed that they had not mellowed through the years. A good song to get your feet tapping.

"I've got blisters on my fingers!"

About the dark side, I have found a while ago this article, I don't have the link of it, sorry...

HELTER SKELTER Most British listeners were aware that a helter skelter was a spiral fairground slide but Charles Manson, who heard the White Album in December 1968 thought that the Beatles were warning America of a racialconflict that was 'coming down fast'. In the scenario that Manson had developed, the Beatles were the four angels mentioned in the New Testament book of Revelation who, through their songs, were telling him and his followers to prepare for the coming holocaust by escaping to the desert. Manson referred to this future uprising as 'Helter Skelter' and it was the daubing of these words in blood at the scene of one of the murders that became another vital clue in the subsequent investigation. It was because of the song's significance that Vincent Bugliosi, the Los Angeles District Attorney who prosecuted at Manson's trial, named his best-selling account of the murders Helter Skelter.
