Any guitar players here? I always like playing the ''I Want You'' solo. Sexy, and nice and easy.
Either that, or the album version of Let it Be.

' I play the guitar ' George said somewhere in the early sixties, I do too.
I want you indeed is not that difficult.
I like to play things like
Here comes the sun (accoustic)
Sun King (lead)
Badge/Bridge
While my guitar (accoustic + EC's solo)
Beware of Darkness
Bangla Desh from the concert (lead)
Birthday (lead)
most of the early albums
most of Hari's albums
RAM
Let it be album tracks
and more

I've been working on You Never Give Me Your Money lately. The piano intro sounds good with a guitar.
Also working on Blackbird, Paul did a great job there, eh?

My band does about 80 Beatle songs including most of the above. Most recently we learned Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite. Try playing the intro on guitar. It's cool.

I'm just starting to learn how to play the guitar and I got this really thick book on how to play Beatles songs on easy guitar. Right now I'm learning how to play "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" but I'm dying to learn how to play "Blackbird". Such a pretty song.

I'm pretty sure Blackbird won't be correct in an 'easy guitar' book.
You'd be better off getting the tabs off either INGA or the other music sites.
it's a song worth learning, though.

When you're a guitar player I believe doing Blackbird is best done without a book and with the song on CD/LP/tape whatever and experience that it is mainly two strings which control this song.

I can't really play guitar. I can play the odd solo like Back in the USSR and Here Comes the Son (using the top 2 strings only) and I can play 4 chords (More than Status Quo!!!), but my talent lies in piano and vocals. I feel lucky that I can hit most of McCartney's vocal range so it's great when I sing Let it Be and Maybe I'm Amazed.

George was obviously not a Jimi Hendrix, but he did manage to fire off some very good guitar solos in his prime. Some of my favorite solos...
Let It Be - LP Version - you can just see them there in the studio one last time (wasn't this recorded during their last session?), and just imagine George ripping this one off as if to say "there you go, that's the last Beatles solo you'll hear me play"

Agreed. In fact, when I used to
take my acoustic guitar out in the city streets to try and earn that extra buck or
two, I'd often sink into that solo on "Till
there was you"-- among some others.
As far as one of my favorite Beatle guitar
solos ever--(pretty sure George took it) that
would be on: "Old Brown Shoe"-- very melodic
yet piercing solo I think. Also I get that
same kind of solo vibe on "Hey Bulldog" as
well. --JC

"Blackbird" is da bomb. I sat on my porch until the wee hours learning that one. My hat's off to Paul for that masterpiece in composition and performance. It cannot be improved upon, though many have tried and failed miserably. A not yet famous Crosby, Stills and Nash sent their "Blackbird" remake to Apple, and were justifiably ignored.
Is "And Your Bird Can Sing" some great guitar work? I've never heard anybody pull it off, and I've witnessed some very good guitar players pulling their hair out trying.
