The R&R HOF has announced the inductees for the class of 2006: Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynrd, Sex Pistols, Stooges, J. Geils Band, John Mellencamp, Patti Smith, Cat Stevens, Blondie, Paul Butterfield Band, Dave Clark Five, Sir Douglas Quintet. Also on the list are 'acts' that I think DO NOT belong here, Grandmaster Flash and Chic. Miles Davis was also nominated, but I hope as an influence, not a performer.
I know all us Beatlelinkers are disappointed that Wings didn't make the cut. Brian still has a chance because they usually nominate non-performers at a later date.
The performers that I think should be inducted this year are: J. Geils, John Mellencamp, Black Sabbath, Dave Clark Five and Blondie. As much as I personally like Cat Stevens and Paul Butterfield, I think the aforementioned deserve to be inducted first.

The Sex Pistols!!!!!!!??????? They were a punk boyband, nothing more. Put together to cause mayhem and not an ounce of talent among them.

I never really cared much for the Sex Pistols until I saw the movie Sid and Nancy (1986). Courtney Love acts in this movie, five years before her first album with Hole (1991) and eight years before she ended Curt Cobains life(1994).

There were rumors floating around that she pulled the trigger.

I am not the biggest fan of Wings but they deserve as much recognition as most of the bands listed there.

I'm not, because I never really thought of them as a band.

I can't say I think any of those acts particularly deserve it, but perhaps that's just my taste.

Patti Smith was a revolutionary in her own right. She deserves to be there.

The list looks very very good this year. Some of the acts like John Mellencamp, Black Sabbath and Lynard Skynard are a shoe in, but I really would like to see the Dave Clark Five in there as well.

I'm really not that disappointed about Wings not making the cut. I doubt they ever will, as most of the world tends to think Paul McCartney when they think "Wings". Still, it seems a shame, cause I think Denny Laine and Jim McCulloch deserve some recognition. But in my eyes, some of the people that were with the band for the bat of any eyelash don't really deserve to be inductees. And you can't induct the band without inducting every member if ever had.
