I just bought a Linda McCartney Wide Prairie picture disc, and is it ok to play it? Or will that hurt it? And if I can play it, how would I go about setting up the phonograph? Thx in advance!

Being one of the "old" members of this forum, guess I'll answer this one. I've got several picture discs and yes, you can play them. Since I also have my picture discs on regular lps (yes, I own cds now! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif), I play those because the sound quallity seems better on regular lps than picture discs. As far as setting up your stereo, you'd set it up the same as if you were playing an lp.
Hope this helps!

You can play picture discs, but don't make a habit of it. After a while the paint will start to wear off and you start getting fine circular bands on it. Most vinyl pic discs are the pics with a clear vinyl glued over it, but there are some where the pic is printed straight onto the vinyl.

MaccaGirl,
I just saw this-I'd advise not to as the sound quality on picture discs and coloured vinyl is usually much inferior to normal black vinyl.

Colored vinal is for collecting, not playing.

I agree with you, joe. I own several picture discs and colored vinyl records. I've played them all and they are better to look at than play. Besides, you'd get dizzy trying to follow the picture as the record is playing. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rolling1.gifhttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/crosseyed2.gifhttp://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rolling4.gif
