Why doesn't Yes It Is appear on my Beatles For Sale CD?

Yes It Is wouldn't appear on the Beatles For Sale LP, because Beatles for Sale was released 1 year prior to the release of Yes it is. I believe Yes It Is was only ever released as a b-side to a single. It has appeared on Beatles Rarities though.

This excerpt is from Paul's official bio, Many Years From Now:

Yes It Is was the remaining John Lennon song on Beatles For Sale, once again written by Paul & John together at Kenwood.

Recorded Tuesday, 16 February 1965, and issued on the flipside of 'Ticket To Ride' in April 1965. So yes, looks like some sort of error.

I just checked the book and don't see any mention of 'Yes It Is' appearing on the Beatles For Sale album. It does appear under the 'Beatles For Sale' chapter, but that's about it (p. 176 in my book).

I don't understand your last post at all, Nowhere Man, but...

I suppose I'll be receiving my cheque from Sir Paul any day now for my editorial duties!!!

Sometimes songs are written and are left until another day. Look at One After 909 for example. That was written in 1962, yet only got released in 1970! Another example is The Word. that was written during the Help! Sessions, yet never saw the light of day until Rubber Soul was being recorded.

That's AMAZING that The Word was written as far back as the Help! era! It is so ahead of it's time! Remarkable...

Yes, that's the conclusion I've come to regarding Yes It Is; possibly originally intended for Beatles For Sale but ultimately, and unfortunately, omitted.

The typo in the book still stands, however; Paul, I want my cheque!!! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/kiss2.gif

In the case of 'Yes It Is' though, it was penned by John at the beginning of 1965 and recorded in Feb of that year, so I guess it wasn't one of those that sat on the shelf and gathered dust for a while.

Which bit didn't you understand? Maybe I can explain it better. I just meant that I couldn't find where it said in the book that "Yes It Is was the remaining John Lennon song on Beatles For Sale, once again written by Paul & John together at Kenwood" (maybe you can tell me which page it's on?)

Also, if you look at the chapter titles... the info about 'Yes It Is' is mentioned under the chapter "Beatles For Sale"... so I wondered initially if maybe you confused the chapter name with the album or something like that.

Ok that is odd? Yes it is in England was the flip side to ticket to ride done in 1965!
Sometimes with the albums that were put out in other parts of the world appeared to have different titles in some cases, and different running orders. List the other songs on the alburm for me.
In England we never had a Yesterday and Today albumn among others. These were records put togther by record companies not the Beatles themselves.
You could have one of those albums!!!!!!!!!!

with love from me to you

We will get to the bottom of this!

I'm at my job now, so I will toss the CD into my knapsack on Monday & list the tracks for you then.

"with love from me to you" -- that's so cute!

The US LP it was on was Beatles VI in 1965,reissued on Love Songs in 1977,and IIRC both the UK Rarities LP in 1979 and the Ballads LP in 1981.
