View Full Version : Getting sick can be a real pain!

I went to the doctors and the doctor told me that I have an ear infection in both ears along with a sinus infection. I bet it's the allergy shots that started it all.

Well you see three weeks ago after I got an allergy shot my neck started to swell up. So the next day I called the allergist and told them about it. I didn't call them the same very day considering I had gone to the allergist close to closeing time, since it was the only time I got a chance to get a ride up there. Anyways, before I got a chance to see anyone, my entire right side of my face started to swell up. Once I got there the nurse practionar that I saw that day didn't seem to believe that it was a sinus infection, and hardly even looked at my ears or nose. However they did give me a medication just in case it was a sinus infection.

This medication did start to help the swelling go down little by little. By the time I got my next allergy shot, I couldn't really notice any swelling at all, other than a tiny bit. Once the next day came, my face was back to where it was before it started to get better, really swelled up! I then had to make another appointment, in which this appointment with them didn't help me at all!

At that appointment I saw another nurse practionar who also didn't really take a good look at my ears or nose. There I told her about my face swelling again, but she didn't seem to believe that my reaction had anything to do with my allergy shot. I kept explaining to her that I was starting to get better, and that the day after my shot, it just got worse. She just dismissed it and gave me something else to help the swelling go down.

After awhile it just got to the point that I got fed up with arguing with people, and I just stuck it out. However soon the inflammation spread to my lungs, to the point that I could hardly breath, so I had to go to a doctor.

This doctor did a much better job. She's the one that mentioned to me that I have an ear infection in both ears, along with a sinus infection, and that the reason why I couldn't breath was do to the fact that I have too much flem going down to my lungs causing me to have pain in my lungs along with difficulty breathing.

Honestly I truly can't stand it when I try to explain to someone who's suppose to be a proffesional in regards to allergies, that the allergy shots are what cause me to get sick the day after the shot, and that sometimes I might not notice much of a difference from the shot right away, considering my alergies can be pretty bad to begin with, and they just dismiss that option straight away. It's sad that my primary doctor noticed something that the professional allergy specialists should have noticed 3 weeks ago.

I sure am glad that I have my medications now. An inhaler along with an antibiotic. I just wish school didn't start tomorrow all because of this matter. Then again, at least finals don't start once school starts up again.

I know what you mean...I had a severe stomach flu last week, but luckily I was still able to go to the Fest for Beatle Fans over the weekend. Glad everything worked out for you. Doctors can be a pain sometimes.
