Billboard Charting songwriter / instrumentalist Eric Hansen has built a solid collection with 3 albums of incredible guitar music. Fans were introduced to a player whose expressiveness and melodic sensibilities proved he was not only worthy of the title ‘master’ but showed promise of things to come.
From arranging popular love songs to writing his own original material; Eric walks a fine line between Nuevo Flamenco and Classical music with hints of Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban and other music nuances mixed in for good measure. The resulting outcome gives listeners a lush and melodically dense presentation of originals and timeless melodies.
His prowess as an arranger of classics and diverse musical influences is never more evident than on this, his crown jewel of tributes – Across the Universe - an album of Beatles classics done in a classical style, in stores October 4th, 2005. The Beatles wrote some of the most endearing music ever recorded. To touch these compositions and not pay respect to the arrangements of melody and harmony would be the equivalent of musical sacrilege. Eric set out to create homage to his single most important musical influence – The Beatles. When looking back, Eric reflects, “even in their most sophisticated arrangements what always stands out are the beautiful notes and lyrics.” This compilation includes some of Eric’s favorite musical pieces as well as others that he surprisingly “rediscovered.”
For fans of Guitar music, this will be a cherished addition to the collection. For fans of The Beatles, this is a must own recording of some of pop music’s greatest compositions.
