It seems to me, there are some songs that sound very much alike:

George............................................ .....................John

I dig love.............................................. ...........I’m the greatest
If not for you .................................................. Out of the blue
Beautiful girl.............................................. .....Goodnight Vienna

Nice observation! :smile1:

It's George's guitar on both "I Dig Love" and "I'm The Greatest", though, it's quite possible that George "copied himself" whilst recording the latter.

"Goodnight Vienna" vs. "Beautiful Girl"... that would be George 'stealing' from John's chord progression according to the relasing date. But then again "Beautiful Girl" dates back to the All Things Must Pass sessions (1970) whilst "Goodnight Vienna" is from 1974. I don't think John heard George's demo from All Things Must Pass, although there's always the chance. I say it's mere coincidence.

I don't hear actually the similiarities between "If Not For You" and "Out The Blue", even though the first one is not actually a George song since it was written by Bob Dylan. He even released it in his New Morning album (1970). :smile1:

Any more comments?

Don't forget "Wah-Wah" and "I Know (I Know)"...the intros at least. They're actually similar to "I've Got a Feeling"'s intro too.

The only resemblance on these songs that I notice is the one with I Dig Love and I'm The Greatest.

Now... are we talking about the middle part with the 4 chords being played up and then down?

Okay...now maybe a bit of homework....John started this song on his piano, there are various demos of it... then at a certain time George stepped in, also demos of that.. and the various parts grew.. now.. I would say that this middle part came when George was in the session, so that would just be a bit of playing with four chords?

It is also on this song when you hear some chord play that George often did, three chords which he used in middle parts, like he used on "Bridge" for instance and "Sun King" and in this Ringo/John song it is where Ringo says "My momma told me...."

John Lennon seemed to be a great master of parodies. It’s amusing how he parodied George’s “Blow away” in “The Rishi Kesh song”, Dylan in “Serve yourself” and maybe Paul’s “Coming up” and "Darkroom" in “I don’t wanna face it” :teeth1:
