I just got new TV Guides today (dated for August 14 - 20) & they have the Beatles on the cover. There are four different covers, one with each of them on them. Its about how the Shea Stadium concert was 40 years ago this month. Inside is a nice article and some never-before-seen pictures. It had interviews with some people who went to the concert and they shared their memories. Also, it talked about some celebrites who went to it. Meryl Streep was there. I knew she was a fan, but I didn't know she went to it. Also, Linda & Barbara were there in the crowd before they met Paul or Ringo. I didn't know that either.
They're great magazines to have! :cool1:

I just hope my scanner will get along with me. It likes to just stop working.

They didn't have it yet at Jewel, but they're notoriously late there at getting TVG. Maybe today.

I saw these in the store today, but I was in NJ and they weren't the local editions for my area so I didn't buy them yet.
I know several people who attended the concert -- notice I don't say "saw" or "heard" the Beatles at that concert, because every last one of them said all they saw were a lot of other screaming girls and four specks out on second base, and all they heard was the screaming around them. Still, I think I would have liked to be there -- I lived 15 minutes from Shea Stadium for the first 26 years of my life, but I was only four years old when the concert happened...

I happened to be at Jewel today, and there they were at the checkout lane. They had quite a few "Johns" but only one left of Paul, and Ringo. And there were no Georges at all. So I bought John, Paul and Ringo, but I'll be on the lookout for the George cover. It's not a complete set without all four! :smile1:

I'd give you my George, but then, I'd want your Ringo or John. Then neither of us would have tthe complete set. :laugh5:

What I love about this site is the sharing. As soon as I read about the TV Guide I went and bought all four. The lady at the check out asked me why I needed four TV Guides. I told her I needed them because each had a different cover. She didn't understand who was on the cover or why I would want them. The man behind me understood, so we're all talking now... So she wants to know what I'm going to do with them. I tried to explain that I collect Beatle stuff. She was so confused she forgot to ring up my ice cream! HA HA. Thanks for letting me know. I remember when the t-shirts came out at Target I quickly posted that information so others could buy them.
So many Beatle items so little time. My home office is wall to wall Beatles. I am going to call it my Beatle room!

The Insider just broadcasted a story about the TV guides and the guy who took the photos at Shea. Then they had a text message question, what is your favorite Beatle song, 1. Love me Do., 2. Help., or 3. Hey Jude...
Those TV guides are going to go now!

Thanks a good one! I bought ice cream today too, but I didn't get as lucky!:wink3:
I found 3 of the TV guides, but still need to find George. It just occurred to me that I should've checked the other registers! Duh! :dunce1:

I have a room like that too, it's a spare bedroom that I turned into a den/music room. I have lots of Beatles pictures on the walls, and other Beatle memorabilia, CD's, etc. Everyone calls it my Beatle room. :smile1:

I had problems finding the George cover too, but I was lucky enough to get one at the second place I tried. I wonder if it's just a regional distribution problem or if they printed fewer of George to make it harder for people to get a complete set. TV Guide says you can order a complete set on its website (shop.tvguide.com), but I couldn't find it there either.

I was lucky enough to get all 4 of the TV Guides with no problem whatsoever. My local Wal-Mart had all of them, as did my grocery store, Giant. I was also in Waldenbooks, who had all but John.
Maybe it's a location thing.
*edit*: Also of note: when I bought my John cover at Wal-Mart, the cashier noticed what I was buying. She asked if I was a fan and I said I was. She then told me that the store had some Beatles t-shirts. After she rung me up, she took me back to where they were. In amongst Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and AC/DC shirts, there were black t-shirts with the "Let It Be" cover on the front. The picture is altered to be pink-washed, but who cares? It's Beatles! The shirts were priced reasonably, too, only $9.88. It was in the junior/miss department. Thought you all would like to know.

I picked up the Paul cover one at the grocery store today. Someone had put it back on the wrong spot in the rack...Good thing, too, or I probably wouldn't have seen it!

I got all of them the day after my last post. I already had Georgie, so I only needed Rich-ingo, Paul, and John. I went up to the cashier and she gives me this look. Then I said ' I collect Beatles merchandise' with a smile. She said 'OH.' and laughed.

The cashier was fine with us buying four TV guides (and some band-aids!), but when I was running down the aisles shouting commands to my nephew to "Go get Ringo! Get Ringo, he's right there!", frantically collecting four of the same magazine, I got some weird looks from people I wormed around in line.
I'm glad my love of the Beatles overshadowed my fear of looking like an idiot in public, because I had to run down every cash register to finally find George, and I think his cover looks the best. I only got a good look in the car on the ride home, and realized that George looked amazing...although Ringo's expression of sheer delight made me quite happy, too.
To tell you the truth, I haven't looked at what's on TV with those TV Guides!
