Can anybody name the songs Paul played lead on? I'm not positive but to start:
Good Morning
Fixing A Hole
------------------
Harbidge

He also played lead on 'Taxman'. Did he play any lead on Ballad of J&Y?

"Ticket to Ride", I think.

This week, the Beatles' greatest hits album, 1, is at number ninety-one on the USA album charts.

"Being For The Benefit Of Mr.Kite", "The End" (on the three-part guitar solos), "Why Don't We Do It In The Road"... (not sure about that last one)
And no, he played bass, maraccas, drums and piano on "The Ballad Of John & Yoko". All the guitars there were played by John.

"Why don't you call me, Miss O'Dell?"
"Drive My Car".

according to my sources, Harb, only John played guitar, with Paul on piano, drums, and bass, on this last Beatle single.

jtal, here's a list for you from "Revolution In The Head" of all the songs Paul played lead guitar on. Some songs lists more than one Beatle on lead guitar.
Paul on lead:
Another Girl
Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite
Drive My Car
Fixing A Hole
Good Morning Good Morning
I'm Looking Through You
Martha My Dear
Michelle
Sgt Pepper's LHCB
She's A Woman
Ticket To Ride
Why Don't We Do It In The Road?
Paul & George on lead:
Polythene Pam
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Taxman
The Night Before
Paul & John on lead:
Helter Skelter
Honey Pie
All 3 on lead:
Back In The USSR
The End
Also, on She's A Woman... since there's no evidence of George on the surviving tapes of this session (space being left for the solo), it seems probable - especially on the basis of sound and style - that Paul played lead.

NWM, that list is interesting. I never realized that Paul played lead on Sgt Peppers but it fits. Paul's leads were the most manic and intense free for all ones it seems.

So it is indeed Mac that is playing lead on Fixin' a Hole! I should have known. It has Mac written all over it, but also has the solid & steady beat that one tends to associate with John, come rain or shine. i have always wondered about this, as the song taken as a whole is so Mac. That lead break kicks major butt IMHO. In my mind it is the glue that holds the entire album together.

Paul & George on lead:
Polythene Pam
Most interesting double here
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
George's style here sounds a lot like what he does on Octupus's Garden (not only after; on the phone to Monday), but where is Paul's bit???

Non-Paul question real quick- did George play anything on A Day In The Life?

Excuse me;
Maracas is a very interesting instrument that can really perform Added Value to a work of art.
Not many know exactly how to handle the Maracas. Compare that to the Sitar.
In case the Maracas would not have been added in this way I am pretty sure that the overall sound of this 'song' would not have been given the same attention.

And I totally agree. Most percussion instruments are underrated on their importance to a record. Like the tambourine or the bongo, maracas are a very important instrument.

I totally agree that the smallest details are what can make a song great.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight.
My point was that GEORGE HARRISON, who is an amazing guitarist, only played the maracas on the most brilliant Beatles song ever.
Geez.
FP, were you by any chance being sarcastic in your post? Cuz it's really kind of funny...

And what do these last several posts have to do with Paul playing lead guitar? I think we have finally drifted too far off-topic for this, so I'm closing it now.
