My friend Larry once made a list of funny words we liked to say. Some of them were monkey, tabernacle, tupperware, and canker. lol, they still make me laugh. I read an article once that said most people find words with "k" sounds funny.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot... what do those all mean??

I think they are mostly used here but : -

Cafuffle is used when you come across a muddle or you are all in a tizzy, eg "Oh dear I have got myself in a right cafuffle."

Cods Wollop means its rubbish, not true or just not good eg "Its a load of cods wollop to me!"

Batty means loopy or mad, eg "That Sally is abit of a batty bird"

Meander just means , wandering around, y'know "I am going on a meander"

Elicit means to evoke or draw out.

That sounds like something I would do with my friends: walk around the hallways back in high school and say completely random things just to see people's reactions. Try walking up to a complete stranger and blurting out "Balderdash!" and see what kind of reaction you get!

Some of the many:

Groovy
Frick (a Schneider family word)
Crud (" ")
Stoked
Groovacious (another word that I think we kind of created--the basis being groovy, of course...)
Pecksniffian (a Dickens' word meaning hypocrite)
and... i know it's gross, but, just the way it's spelled is so very cool.... yes... I find the word phlegm kinda cool (I don't really go around saying it/using it, but I just dig its spelling)

Other, slightly more "serious" words that I love:

serenity
peace
love
harmony

And....
That's all that I can think of at the moment! I'll post more as I think of them! :smile1:

:laugh5: Glad I could make your day! I know... I know... I'm such a lady otherwise, but... there's just something, um, unique about that word. I don't go around using it regularly, mind you, but it's just great fun otherwise!

I also love a lot of the Lennon invented words that appear in his writings--
kak (kakking), desekfreibit, gruddly pod, dubb owld boot, budd old griff, etc, etc, etc... There are many of his words that I just love, and I have incorporated most of them into my daily vocabularly... always great to lapse into "Lennon" and watch people as they try to figure out what in the world it is you're saying! :smile1: One of my little joys in life...

Some of the writings from his books (IHOW and ASITW) can be found here:

http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/8498/

Anyway... his (all of them) are some of my other favorite words....

I've always liked "torque" and "murmur". "Pneu" is a great (French) word too.
