Now that we talk about the ATMP re-release, also this album comes into the picture.

How do you feel about this. In fact this was the first Benefit concert ever, whereas already for some years a certain guy who does not like mondays and has never after had any kind of memorize by ways of records, seems to get all the credits and even some kind of MBE or so.

Re the concerts, was anyone from this Board there? What do you think of the album/video.

I found the combination with Leon very usefull, also the Dylan performance, the Harrison/Clapton duet on While my guitar, the accoustic part, Billy Preston dancing.

What hit me most is the moment that George takes off his guitar during Bangla Desh and gets out whilst the audience goes mad and the band doing a full speed end to this concert.

I was at the Garden that night. What a great combination of muscians. We were in the top section of seats, but didn't care as we were kids just happy to be there. The sheer sound of these people playing was truly magnificent. They were superheroes with extraordinay powers. And then George did an accoustic version of Here Comes the Sun, and then Dylan came out, and Dylan, George, and Leon Russel sang "Just Like A Woman". And then there was Clapton wailing on While My Guitar, and then Leon Russel sang Younblood, and then Ringo sang It Don't Come Easy, and then George and Leon sang Beware of Darkness....

I wish I could have been there for it. I have seen the movie of twice, and it is an amazing concert they did. Originally, Bob Dylan was only going to do a couple of songs, but he ended up doing a mini-concert.
The album from this concert is great, too. The booklet, that came with it, is still in perfect condition.

I went the concert too. George and crew were phenominal. I remember waiting all night long
to get tickets. We got back to Queens at around 6:30 in the morning.
Good god that was thirty years ago. I was 22
back then and thought I was no kid anymore.
After all I grew up with the Beatles!

Hi Carl!

Welcome to the Forum! It is wonderful to meet more BeatlesFans. How is Poughkeepsie? Isn't that where Vassar College is?

Hey Carl, consider yourself one lucky **** to have been there. It happened 12 years before I was born.

Anyway, happy posting!
