If you scroll down the history a bit, or do a 'search' you will find that we have shared many sites of pictures of Patti with or without George...there is a lot of info...also quite recent when for instance Hari's Chick met Patti

Thanks again L-R-P, all the pics were grand! Anyone happen to know where the pics of patti & george at the beach were taken? And by what photographer? They are the best ones I have ever seen of any musician (and wife). The one I posted I got from a random site posting pics of patti. BTW, does anyone know anything about Patti's photography show? I guess she got into photography and is having an exhibit of her work...OH, and once again thanks!

Hari's Chick saw it in San Francisco and wrote a nice piece about it here in the forum, I think it's in the archive now. I wish it would come to Houston, but I haven't heard of it being shown anywhere since February. A book of the pictures would be nice, too!
The beach pictures of George and Pattie were taken in Barbados on their honeymoon in '66 by Harry Benson.

That is so cute! I'm glad you kept your fanzines, they have some of the best, and often rarely seen, photos. Were you or your friend crushed when George got married?

hi georgiegirl

we definitely were crushed when any of them got married! i remember having to tell my friend alberta that george had gotten married and sitting with her in the bathroom at school while we both cried for hours. the worst part was jan. 21 was her birthday (i'm pretty sure it was a friday) and i had planned a surprise party for her the next day. needless to say we were not in the mood to for a party. guess we were young and naive enough at the time to believe that we had a chance with a beatle...lol. but i have to say that i loved patti so much and thought that she and george made the cutest couple. we spent most of our time hoping that paul wouldn't marry jane asher though. she didn't come across as friendly, like patti did.
and you're right about the old fanzines. it's great to have all that old stuff to look back on. it's just so hard for me to believe that it was so long ago already.

btw..love your screen name. i saw the movie "georgie girl" probably 50 times when it came out because it was playing with "help" at a theater around the corner from my house. my friends and i would go to the movie that started at about 12 noon and sit through 4-5 showings a day to see "help" over and over again.

I, too, was very into George (still am)…and when he got married (to Patti), was devastated. Silly, now that I think about it… Anyways, I was so into Patti Boyd, wanted to do everything like her…and followed her column in 16 Magazine.

I, too, am a GeorgieGirl, the first on the link...then Georgie Girl (space between the words) arrived.

P.S. I added an "i" after my name rather than a "y" to be like Patti.

sorry..i didn't know that there were 2 georgie girls. i should have known better..:+)

and it's so great to meet another fan who was there when all of this happened! like you i loved reading patti's column in 16 mag. the funny thing is i didn't know anyone who disliked patti...we all disliked jane asher though. i don't know about you, and maybe it's me having been a skeptical new yorker,..but i never believed that she wrote that column back then. now though, i think she probably did contribute to it.

I collect the old 16's, they're like the perfect little time capsules. Georgie Girl and Help! , what a fab double feature that was! If I had been an older kid in the 60's, I don't know if I could be big about Pattie marrying George. She did seem like a nice person, though.
Here at this site, I think of myself as Georgie the Lesser! :laugh5:

Remember Yardly of London? Slicker lipstick? I even had a "pen pal" from London that I got through 16 Mag. It was all about LONDON. If you're new to the link, you'll have to find some of my older postings on some of this... I don't want to repeat myself.

Thank you for the aritcle, dari, I had a great time reading it. The content and tone of magazines for young girls really hasn't changed much has it? Though I'd much rather read about the Beatles than about any of today's celebrities, that's for sure! :wink2:

never the lesser..maybe the younger?
i guess from this place in time it sounds like we were "big" about it back then...but we really weren't. we were inconsolable. after losing both john and george since then though, it now seems like such a little thing to have been upset about don't you think? but when it happened it seemed like the worst thing we would have to suffer through.
and i'm with you. i love those old magazines so much. they have some of the best shots and can zap you back to those years whenever you sit down to look at them.

oh god yes, i remember those! as if wearing the listick was gonna change us into their model jean shrimpton...another gorgeous london "bird". but we bought it didn't we?

since i am new to this board i'll be sure to search out some of your older postings. they sound like they are going to bring back some great memories. as to penpals...i was always such a terrible writer that i never signed up for one. but my friend sandy (who i met later in life) was penpals with louise harrison. she went to liverpool a couple of times and visited her in the late 60's and early 70's.

i've saved tons of old articles etc. if you or anyone has something they'd like me to look for and post, just ask. it's so much more fun to share this stuff than watch it just sit in my closets.
