I'm kind of partial to "Beatles for Sale", except that they all look so darn SERIOUS! So maybe I'll go for "Beatles IV" because they're all smiling! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Oldies but Goldies is a good cover as it grabs you attention, but the best ast has to be Sgt. Peppers.

This week, 'Beatles 1' is at No. 23 in the UK Album charts.
This week, 'Wingspan' is at No. 55 in the UK Album charts.

I get into moods where I don't much care for Pepper's art-somew times,like now,it seems very busy.
Of course next week I may be of a totlly different opinion...

Abbey Road
both sides always was neat to me for it simplicity, yet you felt like you might be looking out a window of a passing car, and suddenly see the Beatles walking to work!
and then on the back, as you drive past them, you notice the name of the street.http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/sleep2.gif...then you wake up!
the album's jacket flows, just as side 2 so gracefully does.

I like Revolver most, as a sleeve with the difference between the front and back, (with Hari and his sunglasses).
I believe that it is a pity that not much was done with the back side of Abbey Road. Some more creativity could have been put in to that.
Beatles for Sale - so sad, so unhappy.

I like the "Beatles For Sale" sleeve, and the picture. I think it does an adequate job at describing the average mood of the album, and the picture is very well-taken. (Anyone have the Robert Freeman book? It looks cool there! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif)
The worst cover has to be the "Magical Mystery Tour" one, IMHO.

I don't like the MMT cover either, but I've got to admid it reflects the psychedelic '67 mood of the time very well. On the original LP was a note saying "Includes full colour booklet" below the picture, and there is just a white bar on that place on the CD-cover! Not very "professional" from the CD-cover-makers at EMI!
I wonder why they didn't include the booklet in the CD-version. Too irrelevant these days, too expensive to print,...??

The booklet that came with the record was slightly smaller than the album itself. If they had done a booklet for the CD, you probably wouldn't be able to see eveything in the pictures.

You get mad when you see CDs by horrible groups in wonderful and deluxe packaging, while The Beatles collection comes (with a lot of luck) with a 2-page booklet... They should do what they did to Paul's catalogue (restoring the sound and the artwork) and what they're doing to John's as well.

And if Apple/EMI do restore the sound on the CDs.weverybody will cry that you're not getting the original mix,but a different thing.
That's what people are doing with the Who CDs-they're mad that you're not getting the original(poor) mix of it.

Hopefully... I was just thinking that, if only the first tracks from "1" were remastered in mono, then the version of "A Hard Day's Night" is the first one in stereo coming out in CD... It sounds much better than the 1987 CD. Yeah remastering work can do so good things to Beatles music. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/thumbsup.gif

[/B][/QUOTE]For my tastes, I think it would
be Revolver to, and as I mentioned in a recent posting, one of the cool things
about Revolver--(though there's so many
cool things about it..) is Hari on the back
cover looking like a young Keith Richards!
In fact, all the Beatles seem to have a
surrealistic look to them in a way... I always thought John seemed to look the
healthiest and positive minded on that back
cover... also, the front cover lately in
my mind almost reminds me of what could have
been coined as the "black and white negative
(as in photo negative) forshadower for Sgt.
Pepper". I also do remember when Magical
Mystery Tour came out... I loved that cover
so much then-- "quintessential psychedelia"
I thought, with an inner booklet to boot!
