On this day in 1970, Louise the Elder passed away.
One can say that Louise and Harry Sr. have been reunited with George.
"Deep Blue" song for today.

Awww, poor George must have been devastated. That's so sad, but at least he's with them again. He looks a bit like his mum, don't you think? Except she had lighter hair and lighter & thinner eyebrows.

I always thought George looked somewhat like her. Harry, Sr. said that, upon first introduction to George that George was a miniature version of himself, a "Mini-Me."
There was never any doubt in my mind that Louise the Elder was a loving and good influence on George. She loved gardening, as did George; in Anthology Louise, Sr. was quoted as being displeased with neighborhood children in Speke messing with her flower pots. George was no doubt much loved and he, in turn passed that on to the many people who love his music and the man who made it possible.

Much love to Louise today. She was a special special soul to carry, give birth to, and nurture our George. God had hand picked her to help in the mentoring of the amazing soul which manifest as our George. Love, light, and gratitude to her today and always.

Very well put Lorraine!
I am sure that it was very hard for George to lose his mother. A mother is a very important person. At least they are together now.

Lorraine,
What you said was so beautiful that it really touched my heart. Louise was, I believe the first influence on George. When the boy showed an interest in music, it was Louise who fronted him the money to buy his first guitar and who also encouraged him every single step of the way. It was Louise who encouraged George to "think for himself;" (that 1965 classic always makes me think of her) who told Harry, Sr. that there "are enough sheep - let the boy think for himself;" who provided a place for George and his bandmates to practice and who fostered a love for music in George. Years before the youngest Beatle was born, Louise and Harry, Sr. ran a ballroom where they taught others to dance. In 1942-43 when George was on the way, according to Lou (the Younger), Louise (the Elder) listened to a radio program from India and she [Lou] believed that the Indian music George was exposed to in utero left lifelong impressions on him.
It always deeply and intensely warms my heart whenever I think of just how well loved George was.
God bless Louise the Elder.

That's true, I remember reading that somewhere. Young Louise said that while their mother was pregnant with George, they listened to Indian music. Of course unborn babies can hear outside the womb (although it's probably muffled a bit). So George must have heard that while he was in her womb. It was also cute how young Louise said that their mum let her hold George when he was only eight hours old. So sweet.

Louise and Harold, Sr. have been reunited with their son. Sad for us, but happy for them. I think Louise, Sr. had to have been the single best and most nurturing influence on George. His music reflects that; the way he expressed himself also reflected that. His music touches my heart deeply and I honestly believe that is because George was born under loving conditions into a loving, healthy and nurturing environment.

I think that is very true, BB! George was gifted with such a loving family~ and he was certain after becoming wealthy and famous to share his good fortune with his family. Many stars do not share like George did, and the fact he did that reallt speaks volumes about their family. Louise and Harold did a wonderful job. :smile1:

I think so, too, Lorraine. It was obvious to me from the time I was a little girl and read my very first Beatle biography that the senior Harrisons loved George very much and were very supportive of him. George's song Deep Blue is sadly beautiful; I think of George and his deeply profound songs about the life cycle.
"What is Life" - life in progress
"Deep Blue" - life's conclusion; death of a parent
"Unknown Delight" - beginning of life; child's birth
It warms my heart even now when I think of how Louise would telephone George from wherever they were to wish him a happy birthday. Lorraine, I love that picture of Lil' George you posted with Louise and a company of other people (I don't know who they were; relatives perhaps) on the Lil' George thread. I love reading George's chapter in Anthology. I especially love the stories he tells of attending mass as a young boy. He plainly was well loved and he, in turn, imparted that to others. George literally gave his heart in his music; he followed his musical muse and shared his talents; ideas; beliefs and humor. He kept giving. I know people, myself included who have come to appreciate, acknowledge and recognize the spiritual component in their lives because of George. I have said on other threads that the Monday Night Prayer Group at my church uses George's music. (wonder who got that ball rolling? :wink1:) People in that group have claimed they have gotten to know their "inner Harrison fan" and that George's music has brought them closer to God and their beliefs. Last year when the group shared their Faith Journey stories, I set mine to "Dear One" because that is a truly beautiful and very moving prayer set to music.
See, George was a man who nourished his mind with trying new things and applying knowledge he acquired. Harry, Sr. was able to stretch a dollar and do right by his family. He was able to go far and I think he imparted this practical skill to George. Louise sounded to me like someone who was an extraordinarily good influence on George; sometimes when I listen to him, I find myself thinking of how her influence led him to be the fine person and extraordinary artist that he was. No doubt their reunion is a joyous one.

I think it says alot that George and his parents seemed to have a good relationship even when he was teenage and was misbehaving a lot. They must have worried sometimes. That story about him and Paul hitchhiking to the south of England by themselves, good Lord! If that was my kid, I would have said, "You're going to do WHAT?" I would have been trippin'. His folks must have been very cool-headed.

I also like how she called or wrote BBC Radio to get them to play Smokey Robinson's "Shop Around" on George's 21st birthday. ("Just because you've become a young man now...") That was cute, especially with him being a big Smokey fan and all. :music2:
