You know like those shows where someone comes in and organizes everything, throws things away in your house, and makes it all clean and tidy? Would you love that or hate it?

If you are a collector of things, what are your most precious things?

I'd hate that!!!!! I have loads of clutter and I love it!!!!! My most precious things would probably be my vinyl records. I've been collecting them for years!!!!! And my books. Of which I have too many to count!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty much of a packrat. Every once in a while I get in "organization mode" and throw out a bunch of stuff I don't need anymore, but I always seem to have more stuff than places to put it! :smile1:

My books and my bass stuff (3 amps, 2 basses, music, etc) are what takes up the most room, but I've also got a bunch of photo albums, old diaries, special cards and/or letters from people...Wait! I don't need less stuff! I need a bigger place! :wink1:

I'm such a packrat that in order to find something, I don't look for it- then I'll eventually stumble upon it...

I do exactly the same!!! I can spend hours looking for something but don't find it until a few days after I've stopped looking and it's always somwhere I've already looked!!!!!!!!

I'm trained to be a packrat. Any time I have to throw anything out, the first thing I think is "Can I somehow use this in my classroom for SOME kind of project?" I end up saving a lot of around-the-house type stuff (empty dishwashing liquid bottles for the water table, empty food boxes for the housekeeping area, those Ziploc disposable containers for art projects, etc.) because there's almost always some use for it in one of the learning centers at school.

Yep, that's me too. I have around the house old copybooks from college, papers, articles, etc. And I can throw away anything, because I might need them some day.

And I simply *can't* throw away any of my old toys (teddy bears, dolls, etc), because I'm such a sentimental :wink1:

I am a semi-pack rat, I pile up stuff, then go through and throw lots of it out, but a year or so later, it seems to all be back? :cross2:

I am definately a packrat... I keep all kinds of stuff, what if I need it later??? You should see my room... :blush4: It isn't really messy, but it definately is packed.

I'm pretty much like that. Anything I want to save, like special cards and stuff, I have special boxes for those, and they're hidden in a closet. As for the main part of my house, I like it to be nice and tidy. It's not always that way, but I try.

are we long lost sisters? I keep my special cards and stuff in my closet too :teeth1: and I like my house nice and tidy, but my house always seems to fight me on that one. :wink2:

I always keep letters and pictures and journals and things of emotional value, and I can't stop collecting books and music. I hate throwing things away... "but.. but.... I might need/miss it later.."

I'm a hoarder, but I also hate clutter. Very frustrating at times. I need more space! It helps to move, then I'm able to throw some things away and re-organise. It also helps that I'm allowed to use my old room at my parents' house as a store room :p

Many people claim I'm a neat-freak. I prefer to think I just like things clean. I don't save too much junk, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who save less than me. No, I am not a packrat.

i'm a pack rat no doubt and i would hate it if some one came in and started cleaning thats why i want to clean my room (if i ever decide to do so) i dont even like it when my mom tries to clean my room mainly because my room is my domain and because my mom likes to read my journals then she complains after reading them that i'm to obsessive about my crush on John Lennon

I am not... but I married one ;) It isn't quite as bad as those shows.... but we have a very full 3 car garage...basement... almost 30 years worth of kids stuff(although that is starting to go), magazines, car/motorcycle parts..... I look forward to the day that we have to move so I can throw/give/sell it all away.

The only thing I seem to save is things I think the kids might want as they get older.

haha! :laugh5: Well, yes and no! From my college years where I starved to spend all my food money at used bookstores, to the days of working at a bookstore where most of my paycheck went to buying books.... well, I have a lot of books. :laugh5: It's hard for me to part with those, but I have been parting with some more recently though!

What I mostly am a packrat of... :blush4: are Michael Jackson pictures. I actually entirely filled my hard drive saving pictures of him. He's just so dreamy.... But I have them on an external drive now. Even though I have likely several (several) thousand... I know exactly which I have and do not have, generally. :blush4:

Magazines are my weakness. I have a hard time throwing them out.

I'm an organized pack-rat. I collect and save a lot of stuff, but everything has a specific folder or box that it goes in.

My boyfriend on the other hand - he's nearly a hoarder and not a tidy person at all. Mounds of books he doesn't read. Drawers full of clothing doesn't wear. Desk piled high with office supplies he doesn't touch. And all of this is covered with a thick layer of dust. His room is the absolute worst and I've been begging him to let me do something with it for a while now. What kills me is that his parents are both very tidy and organized! I don't know where he gets it from! :bigeyes3:

Sometimes I watch the show Hoarders and it always makes me want to clean things. Especially the latest episode where a woman collected pet birds.

I have waay too many books, but I'm not about to give any of them up. I'm such a bookworm. :blush4:

I also collect a lot of Beatles pictures... now one of my walls is basically a huge Beatles collage. But that's more of an artistic project (maybe).

My sister keeps old newspaper in a spare room. It has gotten her in trouble with her landlord, but she won't throw them away and even talked my parents into keeping them in their basement.
