It's bad enough Gary Lewis and the Playboys masscred "Help!" in 1965, but the Carpenters REALLY hurt that wonderful song! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry8.gif
The Carpenters should have been brought up on charges for song slaughter and cruelty to classics for their singularly ATROCIOUS rendition of "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You." What they did to that wonderful song was just plain cruel. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/angry6.gif They strayed from the Beatle norm and their version of this delightful 1964 classic was an atrocity.
I wanted to throw some FLAMING PIES at them at the time.

Another Carpenters cover was "Ticket to Ride" which I must say is very depressing. Karen had a beautiful voice but I always feel depressed after listening to her cause even her happy songs are sad.
Besides that I know Bobby McFerrin covered "Drive my car" and "From me to you"
both are a capella and pretty cool I suggest atleast giving them a listen.

Karen Carpenter did have a beautiful voice, but her treatment of Beatle songs was just terrible. Their mistreatment of "Ticket to Ride" was definitely a felony. The Carpenters should have left the Beatles alone. Although I didn't care for the Carpenters and found them sappy, maudlin and lightweight, my parents' peers enjoyed them. That was a rather grim thought.
Now that I'm a grown person, I STILL don't care for watered down, tired versions of popular songs.

There's really nothing wrong with liking the Carpenters. I think they were a good duo and had fun recording like the Beatles did in their early years.
True, Karen Carpenter, rest her soul, didn't have the proper vocals to pull off a good Beates cover. I'd still give her an "A" for effort in trying to do so.

That was the most STUPID, http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/dunce.gif ASININE and INSULTING soundtrack. I mean, it was simply ATROCIOUS! IT WAS REALLY BAD! The plot, if you can call it that didn't make a damn bit of sense and the deviation from the Beatle norm was APPALLING! I wanted to throw DARTS and a TRUCKFUL of Pie Flambe at the Bee Gees! I JUST CAN'T STAND the Bee Gees. We had them rammed down our collective throats in 1977-1978 and this 1978 atrocity did not endear me to them.
Sandy Farina, the girl who starred in this movie hailed from Hartsdale, N.Y., the town next door to where I used to live and where I lived at the time. (I didn't know her and I'm sure she's living in anonymity, trying to live down that AWFUL movie)!

Yes, it was the first Beatles song released in the US. It really didn't do well in the charts and when the Beatles released it on May 27, 1963, it only charted on Billboard's Hot 200. It peaked at #116.

I think the very worst beatles cover had to be Ann Murray's version of "I'm Just Happy To Dance With You". I't makes me want to empty my bowels right away any time I hear it.
Does any body know the singer whom paul picked as doing his favorite version of a beatles song. The song was And I Love Her, and the version was done by a woman singer in the early sixtis. But I can't remember her name. I think she was kind of a jazz or R&B type singer.

This is EMBARRASSING! Frank Sinatra has called "Something" the best Lennon & McCartney tune. "Something" was a George Harrison composition! I mean, what's up with THAT?!
Even my mother, who loved Frank Sinatra in his heyday (she was one of many who loved Frank Sinatra and still does) thought that gaffe was HUMILIATING! (Thanks to me, she's quite Beatle literate). In truth, I'd rather hear the Beatles on their worst day than Frank Sinatra on his best day and compared to the Beatles, Frank Sinatra couldn't sing under a lamp post! I didn't like his renditions of Beatles songs.
Ringo has the coolest blue eyes in my not so humble opinion. The Beatle over the Chairman every single time, yeah, yeah, YEAH!
And THAT's no bias!
