Hey guys, I got this record last night called The Beatles and Frank Ifield On Stage. Does anybody have any info on this that they could share? Thanks.
------------------
This week, the Beatles greatest hits album, "1", is at number thirty-six on the USA album charts. "Wingspan: Hits and History" by Paul McCartney is at number nine.

I can. If original, it's worth quite a bit.
Originally, the album was released with a picture of what is known around the collecting circles as 'the jolly old man' which is a drawing of an old man holding a pair of glasses to his eyes. On originals, the background colour is blue, while on fakes its black. There is also no text down the spine on fakes.
The reissue of this LP is much, much rarer. In fact it's the rarest US lp to be officically released. The story behind it is that Vee Jay's Beatle rights were about to expire, and so they rushed a reissue of this album with a different cover. The cover is of a hand-drawn picture of the Beatles themselves. Less than 100 copies of this album were supposedly pressed. On the fakes of these covers, the picture quality is distintively inferior to originals, ans also lacks any spine printing.
For the labels on the record, the print HAS to be sharp and clear, and have no errors. If the type is blurry or messy, then it's a fake.
I hope this has helped you.

*Stereo cover*
Beatles and Frank Ifield On Stage Vee Jay VJSR 1085 (stereo)
Cover features the drawing of a man with glasses, a moustache, and a Beatle haircut. May be found with oval style, two different brackets styles, or all black "VJ" label style. All three are of equal value. This is a stereo album; "Please Please Me," "Ask Me Why," and the Ifield songs should PLAY IN STEREO. Also, the label says stereo.
About 4,000 copies exist.
value: $500
The above two albums are also called Jolly What! because these words appear at the top of the front cover. The albums have been counterfeited. All originals should have printing on the spine and should otherwise resemble other Vee Jay albums. The album was reissued with artwork from the "Love Me Do" US picture sleeve. Since the change happened in Fall, 1964, and since Vee Jay stopped issuing Beatles records in mid-October, both mono and stereo issues are rare

No worries Mindgames. Just be careful before saying it's an original. I said that when I got my first Introducing the Beatles. I went around saying it was worth $7,000 too. How naive I was.

How did you confirm in the end that it was indeed a fake?

Seriously, I went to a website that specialised in telling you how to determine whether or not your copy of Intro was fake or not. Mine had coloured dots underneath the white at the top of the back cover. Fake http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/frown.gif Oh well, I got 4 originals that have a combined total of over $1,000, so it's not all bad. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif
