Well Mind Games. Paul DID conribute the little middle section AND come up with the "i'd love to turn you on" lick AND come up with the idea for the orchestral musical orgasm in the middle, so i'd say it was almost 50/50 on that track :-)

Said it before, I'll say it again: "Here, There, and Everywhere" It's also John Lennon's favorite, so I heard. It's just so romantic. It brings to mind summer days spent with my girlfriend, picnicing in the woods behind my house, soft kisses on her neck, the way she makes me feel and of course, running my hands through her hair....Mmmmmmmm.

Hello all! I've been lurkinghere for a little while and decided to register.
My all time favorite Beatles song is "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" John at his most Dylanish lyrically. I think that this song is so great, so clever...
A close second would be "Here, There, And Everywhere" In my opinion the sweetest ballad Paul ever wrote! Hell even John loved it! http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

Well thanks for the warm welcome folks. This is indeed a great place to be!
And to DarkHorse: I agree, the song Rain is wonderful. It is certainly one of my all time favorites as well. I believe it was the first Beatles song to incorporate backward masking in it, but I could be wrong.
Another Beatles song I love is Maxwell's Silver Hammer...(Even though John thought it was another typical "kiddie song")

99% indeed. "Paul Ramon" was his pseudonym, used when the Silver Beetles toured Scotland as backing band to Johnny Gentle. Paul couldn't remember why he chose that name, but he thought it sounded rather glamorous. So much so, in fact, that he was to use it again many years later, when he recorded "My Dark Hour" with the Steve Miller Band in 1969. The American punk rock band the Ramones are reputed to have taken their name from this alias of Paul's.

My favorite: I Feel Fine. Simple, true. The 45 rpm version sounded best, because they mixed it with a bit of echo on the vocals, and it sounded Phil Spectorish. A great tune to rollerskate to. Second favorite: Drive My Car. For the obvious reasons. It rocks!

I was never an Elvis fan and in light of the fact that hound dog tried to get John deported makes me wish a guy on a flaming pie would aim one right at him. Yeah, Elvis ain't nothin' but a hound dog and I'd rather hear the Beatles on their worst day than Elvis on his best day. I think the Lennon classic "Instant Karma" is especially a propos here.
It's a good thing Elvis didn't even ATTEMPT "I Feel Fine." Compared to the Beatles, Elvis couldn't carry a tune in a pick up truck.

RAIN! I LOVE THAT SONG! Glad you brought that up! That was one of the many GEMS of 1966! That is such a timeless classic!
it's a very nice song just to uplift the environment. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rocknroll.gif
Well put, friend! Glad to see your post! The 1966 classic does uplift the environment. I never thought of it til now -- the Beatles are ecofriendly, yeah.
