Let's go completely opposite of the "OOOOOh I love that part!" Topic and name little quirks in Beatle songs that irratate us! For me a couple would be the beginning of "Mr. Moonlight," and the way Paul pronounces "Saw" in "'Till there was you" you know, "...I never sawRR them winging, no I never sawRR them at all....."

It doesn't really irritate or annoy me, but there's something about the beginning of 'You're Gonna Lose That Girl' where they harmonise flatly that I notice. After that they're key perfect.

I love Mr. Moonlight. Especially when I sing it. Everyone stares in amazement when I belt out the beginning.

Sorry bearkat I love "Yes It Is", and "Mr.Moonlight" too. I don't like "A Taste Of Honey", though. It seems to be the worst cover ever recorded by The Beatles. And that would be the only annoying thing by them...

Ohhh Kat!!!! How could you feel that way about such a beautiful song?!!! Yeah so it's a slow one but what about the beautiful harmonies?? There is so much good stuff in that song that it is great that it is a slow number so that it lasts longer. I love it.

I have to agree with Lucy. The song "Yes It Is" has some fine three-part vocal harmony work by John, Paul, and George. Listen carefully now..... I believe this song was John's. Thanks,

None of those songs annoy me, it's the little quirks in their voices and pronunciation that make the songs so endearing though I do have to admit I like the beginning of "Taste of Honey" but once they start singing the dododo part I skip to the next song.

8 Days a week? How can anybody dislike that one?! But I guess we all have our likes/dislikes.....that was the point of this topic. Weird facts: My parents who grew up in the 50's-60's HATE the Beatles, yet named my sister after the song "Michelle"(!) Having a 26 year old son who absolutely loves the Beatles drives them crazy! They just don't see the big deal. My girlfriend is the same way, she just likes "The romantic ones," Sigh....sometimes I feel all alone in my Beatle obsession. I am so glad that I found this BBS.

I never really cared for the "shooby doo wop" on Revolution #1 on the White Album. I always LOVED the fast paced, original, but the slower version seemed kind of lackluster in comparison. I didn't like the doo wop chorus.

Ok, I've read all your posts and here's my two or three cents...
- "Yes it Is" doesn't have lyrics like "Across the Universe", but I like the tune, it's very different from most of their other songs.
- "Eight Days a Week" also is lyrically not the greatest but come on, it sounds great! It's very upbeat and a highlight of "Beatles for Sale".
- I like Paul's "sawrr" on "Till There Was You." But I'll take any accent of Paul's, I love him !
- I love the ending of "I Want You." It is the coolest thing ever! I had discovered Abbey Road among my dad's old records this past January (when my Beatles obsession started), and I freaked out at the ending of the song, because I thought I destroyed my dad's 34-year-old Beatles record. Now that I know better, I love it, it's total genius to just cut off a song in the middle of it.
- I always wondered how Paul could sing such high notes on "The Word." I don't really recall him being out of key, but what do I care, it's a good song anyhow.
- I like the song "Revolution," but I really like the alternate rock version better. Either way, the lyrics are really good.
- I cannot stand "Mr. Moonlight." I think it is the worst song the Beatles ever recorded. Thank God it's not actually written by them....
- But the worst Beatles-penned song in my opinion is "When I Get Home." The lyrics suck ("I'm gonna love you till the cows come home"? What woman is going to find that appealing?), and the "whoa-o-o-a"'s sound like John is out of key.
- While I like the song "Run for Your Life," I think the lyrics are disturbing.
But, even though there are several aspects of Beatle songs I don't like, it's completely outweighed by my love of the other 200 songs of theirs!

Nothing really annoys me about any of the Beatles songs, but there are a few, that Iīm not that thrilled about. Allright, I've got a couple cents to add to this topic.
I love "Mr. Moonlight" ESPECIALLY the beginning. But I think its cause I've got a story behind the beginning.. I went to a Beatle tribute concert, and the John made everyone promise to sing exactly like him, so he did the beginning of Mr. Moonlight and told us to copy it. The audience did, and him and Paul start cracking up because I guess we sounded good (or really bad images/icons/tongue.gif ) and Paul looks at John and says, "Pretty good aren't the?" I don't know. It was rather funny when it happened..
The evil 8 song, as I so call Eight Days A Week (Anyone who knows me from Yahoo's Beatle chat.. The one by i_am_the_paulrus should remember my frequent screams whenever Paul turns the song on in my honor) has become one of my least favorite. Its only because the lyrics loop so well, so that the song will play on into infinity.. Hence why this is the 1 year aniversary of it being stuck in my head. It plays through my head whenever there is silence, and loops on forever. Hence why I loath it so.. But I do admit, its got a catchy rythm. images/icons/grin.gif
And all these times that you guys keep mentioning Paul being out of key... graemlins/inlove2.gif You actually listen that close to hear him go out of key? Hey, almost every thing that man does seems to be perfect to me. I can't hear those impurities.. Ok well, unless he made the guitar buzz and started singing in an out of tune Texas twang..
There you go. My thought's worth on the subject.. Without too much McCartney idolizing.

okay, I'm going to sound like a grammar freak here...but what has always bugged me is "Love you to." First of all, does it even say "love you to" anywhere in the song? Not taht I know of, but I'm probably wrong; I never took the time to learn the lyrics. but...wouldnt it be "love you TOO?" I guess I'm the only one that is bugged by that, and maybe the usage is different than I thought, but THat's always bugged me. Especially that no one corrected it. If i'm wrong and the to is correct, then please ignore this message. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but... RRGH!

I still like the title better than "Laxton's Superb" or "Granny Smith". images/icons/grin.gif
I think it's meant to say that the singer/songwriter is going to "love you to"... death, "'fore he's a dead old man". I've always taken it that way. "Love you too", however, does not make sense in the content of the song, which talks about the desperate need to manifest love to people, before "they fill you in with all their sins". images/icons/smile.gif

i hate "mr moonlight" "leave my kittie alone" should have been used instead ringos vocals on "honey dont" .. john should have done it... the bongo type drums on "your gonna lose that girl" irritates the hell outta me.. spoils the record... that piece of rubbish thats says "number 9, number9" lol... the fact that paul didnt harmonise with john on "come together" even they both thought it shoulda been done...

There are just a few songs that i don't like
1. Honey don't
2. Mr. Moonlight
3. Honey Pie(it's annoying)
Then, if you listen to Anthology 1, you'll listen to a better version of "One after 909". It isn't that I don't like the one in Let it Be, but if I want to listen to it, I'd rather listen to the first one.

I really don't like I Wanna Be Your Man, that or Mr. Moonlight. I've Just Seen a Face never thrilled me either...

I LOVE the 1965 gem "It's Only Love," but I never liked the word "butterfly" which is seemingly just thrown in. I always thought "butterfly" was irrelevant.
I was never overly fond of "You Won't See Me."

*"swaying daisies sing a lazy song beneath the sun." too fruity for words.
*"eveywhere i go i hear it said in the good and the bad books that i have read" is just. . . what does that mean?!
*"working for peanuts" always makes me wonder if paul's singing about himself or jimmy carter graemlins/angry9.gif
*i really like she's a woman, but "i know that she's no peasant?!" honestly, paul! what the hell?!?!
*doctor robert graemlins/afraid1.gif
however, i think that the "worst" beatles recordings are still much better than a good bit of the competition images/icons/wink.gif

Also Yucko, Honey Don't, Till There Was You, and Yellow Submarine.
But I love A Taste Of Honey, and Yes It Is is strange, but nice in my opinion.
And I also love Kreen-Akrore, but hate check My Machine (and I only know one, who likes it...but maybe there's somebody else?) images/icons/grin.gif * images/icons/grin.gif

I never used to like A Taste of Honey at all but now I find myself enjoying listening to it. It's quite a nice version.

pretty much the entire song of a day in the life after john's verses... the verses just seem so emotional and beautiful and then paul comes in with his stupid hair combing and ruins it.
im gonna get blasted for that one though

Revolution 9 is the one I do not like.
But I do like the part at the beginning, between
it and Cry baby Cry:
"Can you take me back where I came from,
Can you take me back?
Can you take me back where I came from,
Brother, can you take me back."
The only other one that might be a little questionable is Honey Pie.

For any reason I canīt stand the middle part of Do you want to know a secret ( "Iīve got a secret for a week or too, nobody knows, just we too") It just doesnīt fit into the song, in my oppinion....

I never liked the "shooby doo wop" in Revolution One and think it's extraneous and does nothing to enhance the song. It would be better without that part, but that is JMHO.

I also like the "shooby dooby"'s. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif I think they're pretty cool, even when they do it in the "rocking" version played at the David Frost show. It's just a sparkling little additional element. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
