Does anyone have the Genesis concert for george book? The one that olivia harrison signed? Does anyone know why bob dylan wasn't at the actual concert?

bob Dylan was in the middle of a tour (when is he not?) and had a show on the night of the concert. He did play a very moving version of Something as a tribute.
I don't have the book.

I wish Dylan was there too >I think fans would have understood If he cancelled a concert for something like that ..Heck one time he came to sacramento (sometime in the 80s) he came out and played less than a half hour then left ..He didnt seem to be bothered by that

Why wasn't Leon Russell invited?? It's too bad that Klaus didn't get more stage time. Can you imagine if Dylan had shown up? The place would've gone crazy - just like '71.

Good questions.
Bob Dylan had reached a very high point during his Traveling Wilbury career. During those years, he and George Harrison, et al. created a musical experience that cannot be duplicated. These mega-artists worked well togther from their days in 1971 at the Concert for Bangladesh.

Are you aware that Amazon is going to have this book available (a normal-priced version of it) at the end of September?

Leon is one of the many people George had worked with and who became a good friend of George's.
We can come up with a long list of other musicians who could have been part of this amazing concert...however you have seen the stage of the Royal Albert Hall was already quite full with the musicians who played.
Eric Clapton said somewhere, that a lot of musicians hav offered to play, but they just had to draw a line, also...I don't believe us people here can really answer to the motives of Leon not being there...or why Bob did not join, so it's speculating in most cases. Bob is a funny and special guy...I am sure George was fine with it as also the Harrisons, and that is what counts.

Good points, FPSHOT. The outpouring of love at that concert is what made it all the more special and effective. No doubt it would have touched George's heart deeply to know that so many people love him and respect his music.

Sorry to respond to my own post, but I just noticed lately that this item is no longer listed on Amazon. Does anybody know why it was pulled?

Amazon uk has the book listed as due to be released in September 2005, but doesn't have a price, so I don't know if this is the cheaper version. Just says limited availability.
