Here's a topic I saw on Brett's VH forum. Let's just pretend for a moment that Lennon was still alive, and that The Beatles decided to give one huge concert somewhere. If their setlist could only consist of 15 songs, what songs would or should they play? The list should contain 10 Beatles songs, 1 cover song, and 1 solo song for each...

They would either hold the performance at either Shea Stadium, the Hollywood Bowl, or Wembley Stadium. The setlist could be:

1.I Saw Her Standing There
2.And Your Bird Can Sing
3.Imagine
4.My Sweet Lord
5.Lovely Rita
6.Twist and Shout
7.And I Love Her
8.It Don't Come Easy
9.Help!
10.Yesterday
11.Back in the USSR
12.Run Devil Run
13.Revolution
14.It Won't Be Long
15.Hey Jude / The End (Both would be suitable)

Drive My Car should be in the list somewhere. It would be a great concert starter. (My list that is, Your's is great Katman).

Thanks, Harb. If I was to change any of it, I'd change #5 to "Twist & Shout".

I think Hey Jude is the best song ever to finish a concert with. You can get the entire audience involved and you can make it as long as you want.

And this could be an alternative playlist, without any of the above mentioned songs:

1. Get Back
2. She Loves You
3. Let Me Roll It
4. With A Little Help From My Friends
5. I Feel Fine
6. You Won't See Me
7. Help!
8. Roll Over Beethoven
9. Photograph
10. Don't Let Me Down
11. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
12. Woman
13. Yesterday
14. All Things Must Pass
15. Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End

My God, they could do like 50 concerts with different songs... and they'd still be all great... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

The "Imaginary" list (probabily to be taped to the top of MaCartney's bass):

1-Sgt. Peppers/With A Little Help...
Macca thanks the crowd... "How ya feeling?"
2-All My Loving
John takes over "Thanks Paul..." and makes a flippant remark about screaming teenagers remembering these "delightful little dittys"...
3- Please Please Me/She's Loves You Medley
straight into
4- I Want To Hold Your Hand
Paul to the fore "Thank You Very Much Everybody... Would you like to hear from George Harrison tonight?" Crowd goes nuts. John replies "Ladies & Gentlemen George Hari..Krishna!" and the group laughs as Ringo's drum introduces...
5-Something
John says "Thanks George, that was really something!"...George laughs as well as the crowd and George intros the next number...
6-Penny Lane
Paul thanks the crowd and says "Let's go 'round the block a moment"
7-Strawberry Fields Forever ...and straight into...
8-A Hard Day's Night/Help! medley
Paul AGAIN asks "How's everyone feeling?" and then screams "RINGO!"
9-Yellow Submarine
John comes to the mic and says "We're getting old, you know... so we need these stools for a bit..." and open up the acoustic set of the show...
10-Norweigen Wood/You've Got to Hide Your Love away medley
Paul tunes his guitar and says "OK, I wrote some things too you know..."
11-I've Just Seen A Face/Can't Buy Me Love medley
George says "I've got a few..." John interrupts "The show's running long George!" After a mock fight, they hug and John says "George Harrison everyone!"
12-Here Comes The Sun/If I Needed Someone medley
All eyes go to Ringo who says "I'd rather play me drums tonight!"...crowd screams..."1-2-3-4!
13-I Saw Her Standing There/Twist & Shout medley
John at the mic "Thought we'd put Paul over on that piano a moment if you don't mind..."
14-Lady Madonna
Paul says "This next number will have to be our last one..."... crowd strongly disaproves... Paul adds "So we'll make it good one!"
15-Hey Jude ( a fourteen minute version!)
After a long standing ovation they return with acoustics and Ringo on a bongo.
ENCORE: Yesterday/In My Life medley
The show ends with the harmonized phrase "In MY LIFE, I love YOU more!" as they stand arm and arm.
The boys bow like the old days and the house lights come up.

You have a cigarette (or other substance)whether you smoke or not!

I would say "Hey Jude" would be the best song to end the concert with. You can make the na na na's last forever. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/rainbow4.gif

Onothimagen, your list is purely inspired. It would be the most talked about concert of all time, leaving Woodstock in the dust. It would be fab.

This week, the Beatles' greatest hits album, "1", is at number twenty-six on the USA album charts.

Oh yes it was. But you cheated with the medley stuff... But a concert like that would be remembered forever. It's a pity that John's no longer here... http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/cry2.gif

Yeah, I wonder how Paul manages to change from Piano to Bass and Guitar for the guitar trio. That trio should be in the concert. That would be fantastic to see.

Ohnothimagan made me think of a sortlike list so here we go;

1. One after 909
a rocker is a good start of any concert.

Good evening everyone part from John follows.

2. Medley Love me do / I saw here standing there / She loves you / Twist and shout / Roll over Beethoven

Paul talks about long-time-no-show and the idea to lead the audience through the various phases of 1962-1970, of which we just had 'the early years'.

Do you remember....and George does the Hard Day's Night opening chord

Audience goes bananas (me and the others from BeatleLinks.net at least standing on the front row)

3. A hard day's night.

Ringo introduces an accoustic 5 minutes by John

4. You've got to hide your love away
5. Norwegian Wood

6. The word, whith a little funky additional element by Ray Cooper

George says Hi and introduces Ringo-Time

7. With a little help
8. What goes on

John back on the mike, George-Time

9. Taxman
10. While my guitar gently weeps

Paul sais it is time for a change and some solo songs

11. Maybe I'm Amazed
12. Art of Dying
13. Photograph
14. Instant Karma

George Martin steps on stage and tells something in 2 minutes. Goes to the piano.

15. In my life (with George Martin's piano solo)
16. Imagine (George Martin on piano, John on acoustic guitar - like on that amazing bootleg demo)

light goes out.

17. Wah-Wah
18. Band on the run
19. Whatever gets you thru the night
20. It don't come easy

Billy Preston shows up on stage and on keyboards

21. White Medley ; Back in the USSR / Everybody's got something to hide / Birthday / Revolution / Savoy Truffle
22. Get Back (Billy's solo)

Outro's from all four, thank you's etc.

23. Let it be / Hey Jude,

Band leaves stage
the usual na-na-na's go on for minutes
Band comes back

24. I'm the greatest
25. Cloud Nine
26. Let me roll it
27. Watching the wheels

28. THE medley ; she came in through the bathroom window / golden slumbers / carry that weight /the end
'you may go home', band shows up, hand-in-hand, SEE YOU NEXT TIME

We all go out and have a BeatleLinks After -party.

In concert, he played the keyboards with Linda until the drum solo. Then he'd take up his guitar and started joining the three-part solo. He could do the same thing, leaving the bass to, let's say Klauss Voorman. http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif

I wonder if they were all around today and got back together if they would enjoy being able to play more than "just the hits" like in their heyday performances. I for one, would have LOVED to have been at the Star Club in Germany to see THOSE shows! Talk about a cool bar band!

Because of another topic started today, I bring this one back, also because we have so many new members who want to have a go.

Ofcourse the other topic can stay open too.

Not knowing what each new day may bring to you
Or take each day as it goes on
Wake up to the love that flows on, around you.
