Rufus Wainwright

How many of you are familiar with his music, and what do you think? I love him! He comes from an extremely gifted family, with his dad, mom, aunt and sister all being great musicians.

Speaking of his sister, how many of you have heard her new album Martha Wainwright? I really recommend. Think its beautiful and very Ani DiFranco-like.

Yes Rufus is close friends with Sean. He sang with him at the John Lennon Tribute in 2001.

Actually, the Across the Universe he and Moby did with Sean is what turned me off Rufus initially. Their voices just didn't mesh. I hate that cover and I hate the one on his Poses album to this day. It doesn't hold a candle to the original in my book.

Anyway, aside from that Rufus is awesome all the way to me. I am in love with Want One and his self-titled. Want Two is a masterpiece, and I also love every song except the aforementioned on Poses. I'm seeing him in August.

As far as Martha, I really like her a lot. Her voice is special. She's very different from her brother, which is what I expected. Rufus is so theatrical and all about the big bombastic orchestration and gorgeous melodies. Martha has the melodies as well, but she is far more reserved in production.

But my two recommendations for everyone here? Want One and Martha Wainwright. Get them now!!!
