I read in a few places that George was on there with Jeff Lynne and that he was supposedly rude & sarcastic. Does anyone have the transcript from there? What did he say that was so bad? I know that he sang a few songs as well.

hehehe... He was really not rude... he was HYSTERICAL!!! I laughed so hard. I think he was a little bit intoxicated (bad, George!), but so so funny! He does "Let It Be Me" in this .... wonderful, sexy, breathy voice. It is unbelieveable. :heart2: I have the interview on cd, maybe I figure out how to d/l it and send it to you? PM me if ya want to. :smile1:

I have been searching for a transcript or a way to download the audio, and I can't find it. Maybe that's because it was a long time ago. Thank you, I think I'll PM you :teeth1: :wave1: .

There was one point when a listener said he liked George's "Cloud Nine". George replied with "Like? If you don't love it get off the line man". But I didn't really find it rude, or anything else on the show. Yes he did a beautiful version of "Let It Be Me".

Am I dreaming or didn't we have some sort of transcript from it?

If it's on your computer (or could be put on your computer) then you could upload it to something like www.yousendit.com and then post the link here.....

I'd really love to have a listen :)

Yes, please! Thank you!

George could be hysterically funny...he was such a pisser and a panic! His droll, dry, ascerbic wit can really make you :laugh5: :laugh6: :laugh7:

There is a picture of George and Pattie and Paul and Jane Asher in Rishikesh. They're all sitting next to each other and you can see that all of them, except George, are laughing. Well George has a small smile on his face. Apparently George had just cracked a joke that made them all laugh :laugh5: .

Here's the link to the joke photo: http://www.thebeatlesinrishikesh.com/gallery/gallery_photo15.htmlYou can see them laughing. George was a funny guy. Now back to the KLOS Rockline subject, I hope I can find it somewhere.

"Jeff and I were born Siamese twins in 1927"

I died laughing, right there.

And of course "How did Jeff Lynne help your sound?"

"He has sex with me every 30 minutes"

He was also calling himself "Doctor Ruth." He's so silly. I don't know why I heard that he wasn't nice during the whole thing. He didn't seem disrespectful to anyone. Maybe his Liverpool humor was sarcastic. However my neighbors from Liverpool told me that the sense of humor in Liverpool is sarcastic, but not mean. I guess some people may interpret it the wrong way.

I loved him calling people Yuppies....

Damn he is so funny. I spit out my diet coke when he told that guy to "piss off"
It was a joke...but some people probably thought he was being rude.
Eh...screw 'em. I think he's hilarious

You know, my neighbors down the street are from Liverpool and they say "Piss Off" all the time. They also say "Bugger Off" and they call each other a "Gonk" a "Gobshite" a "Wanker" or a "Git." In fact they knew the Beatles before they were famous. They used to play at their church youth group dances. Anyhow, when I hear George talk, he reminds me so much of them.

..also where George is asked what instruments he'd like to learn and he says acupuncture and massage, that we can just all massage each other, then poke each other with needles! LOL!!

It was interesting hearing George speak about sports, too. So so funny! And where he tries to say 'logrithims' (sp?), lol lol....

When the girl said ATMP saved her from suicide George took time out of being silly, he really was so nice to her.

Darn, I taped that interview but, sorry to say, I no longer possess a copy.
George was not rude, he was his usual soft spoken, eloquent, humorous self.
And if anyone didn't recognize that, then what can I say? Besides doing a rendition of Let It Be Me, he closed the show with Bob Dylan's Every Grain of Sand...just beautiful!

What's a "gonk" and a "gobshite?"

HC, bless you and thank you for those links. George could be a VERY funny man indeed. The ATMP story was very moving...it just goes to show how deeply George and his words influenced people for the better and added something meaningful to people's lives.

I think it means "idiot" or something. My neighbors from Liverpool call each other that all the time. They tease each other all the time. When I hear the Beatles speak (on tv or radio) I sometimes hear them say "Piss Off" or "Bugger Off" just like my neighbors do. I guess the Liverpool people speak the same. I love it, I think they're funny as heck!!! :laugh5:

Thanks. Always nice to learn the "Anglo" slang from both sides of the big pond! :thumbu2:

No problem, sometimes I'll ask the Martins (the Liverpool family) what a certain word means. When I was younger (I've known them since I was 12) I asked them what "Bloody" meant. They said that saying "Bloody" is like saying "Damn." They also refer to the TV as the "Telly" and the bathroom as the "Lav" or the "Loo." I think we all know that a "Vacation" is a "Holiday." I'm sure that the other Brits on this board probably say the same things. To be honest, I'm around the Martins so much, that I find myself saying the same things, and I'm American! :laugh5:

He was also on in 1992 after his Japan concerts. Talked 'aboot' doing a tour after the next album. I guess The Anthology got in the way.

and the bathroom as the "Lav" or the "Loo."

Out here sometimes they say 'toodaloo' when I am going out...then I say... 'no, just out'...
