Bass-ic Questions.

I've been busy lately getting a band together. My friend let me borrow/possibly buy her bass guitar from her.

Since the band and I have been playing mainly Nirvana songs, I noticed most of them were in Drop D tuning. How do you get Drop D tuning with a bass guitar?

You don't have to. Since you play individual notes on the bass instead of chords like on the guitar, you just play the notes that you need to play and you don't have to change the tuning. I've played along with lots of songs that the guitarists play in drop D and I haven't had to change my tuning. It's kind of like when they play with a capo on, I don't change my tuning or use a capo, I just transpose whatever I'm playing so that I'm in the same key that they're in.
