The Fabs were masters at "tweaking" things so it sounded different forward and backwards, on that we can all agree. They even worked it into "Free As A Bird". BUT if you happen to own a copy of the 'vinyl' release of The McCartney Interview released back around 1980, did you ever catch the backwards message at the end of the album in the runout groove? I did... but before I share it, I'd like to know if others found it too?!

I have the LP. Or one of them I think. Are you talking about the full double LP, or the single LP reissue? Anyway, I'll look and see which one I've got. I think my record player picks up the needle before I can play anything in the runout groove.

Which album is this exactly? Is he saying that he's dead? http://www.beatlelinks.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

It's the single disc issue. It's very low but when you play it backwards it's very clear to me!

Gee, I'm surprised! When I was discovering The Beatles I was playing everything forward, backward and sideways... listening to left channel then to right channel... stereo and mono releases. Always in search of something that I never noticed before. I thought this would generate MORE discussion but I guess not that many people own turntables anymore.

The backwards message at the end of the single disc McCartney Interview album is this:

You have to crank it up and reverse it of course but Paul plainly says...

"And I'm STILL the Walrus"

I thought that was wonderful when I found it and I wonder how many more are out there?

I want to know "Every Little Thing". How bout you?

Is there any way at all possible for you to get that onto a WAV file and send it to me? That would be brilliant for my site.

I can try it. Can't guarantee the quality becoz as I said, it's very low and turntables have that certain rumble to them.

Thanks mate. I think it'll be a perfect sound clue for my website. Don't worry about turning at around or anything because I can do that on my PC.

Thanks again.

I don't say he's dead. I show the song lyrics and album cover items that people perceived as clues to him being dead.

I got the WAVE ono, and it's perfect. I was wondering however if you could give me the details of the record. What was the title/year of release/format... etc. I would much appreciate it.

Thanks.

Album: "The McCartney Interview" Year: 1980
Label: Columbia PC-36987 Limited Edition

I believe it was released as a two disc PROMO in May but commercial it was a single disc.

Paul was interviewed by Vic Garbarini for 'Musician' magazine in early May 1980 with the LP released on December 4, 1980 in the US.

At the very end of side two in the runout groove, there's a low mumbling. Reverse it and crank it and you get what you heard on the WAV file I sent you, Harbidge.

Glad you got it and can use it for your site which is very interesting I might add.
