Just wondering what kind of homemade sandwich you like.
My favourite is a little off the wall.
I spread 1 piece of bread with peanut butter and the othe piece of bread with some of that canned instant cake icing. You can use almost any flavour of frosting but I like French Vanilla, Chocolate, or Whipped Fluffy White (told you it was off the wall).

I like grilled cheeseand tomato best. I don't like lunch meat, but I do like french dip sandwiches, just not as much as good ol' grilled cheese and tomato.

As well as the Reuben...new menu items for me!
So to help with my studying....

A Monte Cristo (Gunther Toody style)

A triple decker sandwich with american/swiss cheese, ham, and turkey breast on white bread that is quartered and battered (at Gunthers a beer batter, other restaraunts use an egg batter I believe). And then deepfryed.
Usually served with a delicious strawberry sauce.
Very tasty :teeth1:

Isn't Monte Cristo something that the Fairy Godmother (from Shrek 2) asked with a coffee?

Maple syrup really isn't that different than honey. And peanut butter and honey is normal. :wink1:

This is turning into a "what's the weirdest sandwich you can create" thread. :laugh5:

I always thought that a Monte Cristo was batter dipped and fried (kinda like french toast.) Anyway you prepare it, it sounds like a super fattening sandwich to me.

I've been to your basic resturants and the bread is dipped in a egg batter(French toast) and then they just grill it like you would a grill cheese.I have a couple in my neighborbood "Unicorn ,Maplewood,& Paragon that make it like that.

I do something simalar too. I put BBQ chips on PB&J, but only if it has Grape Jelly. That is the only way I will eat grape jelly :wink2: . I love that one but my favorite sandwich is grilled cheese with ham. It is very tastey :teeth1:

the count of monte cristo WAS batter dipped and fried during

the french (toast) revolution. this was the same revolution where marie

antoinette said "let them eat cake" and that pissed them off 'cos the

french don't like cake or something so off she went to the guillotine!

and off went her head, not long after! :rolling4:

well, it seems I'm not the only one who likes weird sandwich combos. :teeth1:

Another good one is cream cheese, cucumber, turkey, mayo and a little red onion on a french roll. Yummy!

When I was growing up, my Dad liked cheese and onion sandwiches. I decided I would try them and they weren't bad but I found the raw onion just too much for my stomach. I find if I make a cheese and onion sandwich then grill it, I'm ok.

Only thing is, if you're going to have a grilled cheese sandwich, you gotta get the ketchup/catsup (differently spelled because different people call it one or the other)

My favourite sandwich is ham, tomato and cucumber, with a few crisps on the side!!!

But when I was pregnant, I used to like pickled onion and salad cream sandwiches!!! Just the thought of them now turns my stomach!!!!!

:afraid4: Good grief! What did I start with the Monte Cristo sandwich? Yes, some places deep fry it like Chris said. I prefer it when they prepare the bread (dipped in egg - french toast style) and then grilled with the ham, turkey and cheese inside. While you save a bit on the fat calories that way, it's still hella fattening and loaded with cholesterol, I'll bet. Nevertheless, it's still a guilty pleasure for me and tastes wonderful with the strawberry jam. :teeth3:
