Lennon's Killer Set For TV Interview
Tuesday May 10,2005
http://au.launch.yahoo.com/050508/10/4bmh.html
John Lennon's killer Mark David Chapman is preparing to discuss the rock legend's death on TV for the first time, as part of an upcoming British documentary. Channel 4 bosses have requested a meeting with Chapman in New York's Attica Prison for a film to mark the 25th anniversary of the icon's tragic demise. The one-off special, 'I Killed John Lennon', will also feature audio footage of an interview Chapman, now 50, gave journalist Jack Jones. A Channel 4 spokesperson says, "This would be the first TV interview he has done. It will be a fascinating glimpse into the mind of a killer." Chapman shot Lennon dead outside the Dakota building in Manhattan - where the former Beatle lived with his wife Yoko Ono - in December, 1980.

Perhaps this is the first time in Britain. But who really cares? I have no interest in what he has to say. Didn't in 1992 either.

Good grief what has the world come to!

I don't know. Somebody might care. Somebody might be interested. Although I completely agree with you in that I personally don't have any interest in wasting a minute of my life listening to anything he has to say, to dismiss it and say that nobody should be interested because I'm not, well, that's not my job.
I sure wouldn't have the stomach to watch it though.

I definitely know what you mean. :angry1:
We shouldnīt pay the attention to him he always wanted to achieve. HE PICKED THE WRONG WAY AS FAR AS IīM CONCERNED.
And I have definitely no intention to give him what he wants. What could he have to say? How SORRY he feels? What a good christian he is now? I beg you all who can receive this programme: Donīt watch it.
Although the rating might be high anyway. Let it not be us to watch him.

The man killed a legend to order to obtain world notority.
Crap like this just enforces his twisted reasonings as to why he killed - to get himself talked about.
I reckon that all media should be banned from repeating his name because of this.

It was me... :cry2: Nevertheless.
This story gives me shivers running down my spine. What in the world have we come to that we now let the killers speak by whose hands the former praised artist died?
And isnīt it indicating that it is the same channel that used the sins of Heather Millsī youth to make a "real" documentary a few years before? Theyīre trying to focus on the same curiosity of the people now, folks. :devil7:
Disgusting. Makes me :barf3:

My god are they nuts!! Creating something like this is just adding extra negative energy to MDC and the murder. (Does that make sense?) Why bother!!
Not only that... but they will be giving the sick bastard what he wanted!!

Ono Enraged...
John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has attacked British television network Channel 4 for planning to broadcast an interview with the late BEATLE's crazed killer MARK CHAPMAN on the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death.' The Japanese artist is devastated at the proposal and has warned TV bosses of the pain they will cause by airing the documentary.
Ono fumes, "I think it's horrible of Channel 4 to do this. It shows a lack of understanding of the painful memories of what happened to John's beautiful life.
"Myself, John's family and so many fans will be hurt by the showing of such a programme."
The interviews have been handed over to the network by journalist JACK JONES, who quizzed Chapman on three separate occasions for his book LET ME TAKE YOU DOWN - published in America in 1995. The title of the controversial tome is a chilling play on the first line of psychedelic BEATLES classic STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER.
But Channel 4 insist the subject will be treated with sensitivity - and claim the programme is more about investigating the psyche of a killer, than about the deceased singer.
A spokeswoman says, "It's very much a serious documentary and will be handled accordingly,
"Neither Mark Chapman nor his family have received payment. The programme looks into Chapman's psychology. It is about the mind of the murderer rather than about John Lennon."

I agree with Yoko 100%.

No, but he's getting loads of ego juice...
The real problem is that there is a "market" for these types of things...
How many books, t.v. specials, movies, have there been on murders and so on... and some of these are borderline as far as making these people look cool !
... and, in many cases, the ratings and sales were there for it, otherwise, there would not be so many of these movies and books being made anymore.
Hey, wasn't Nirvana that recorded a song written by Charles Manson ?
... well, there you go...

We all know what happened. Right now I don't want to relive his loss, only his life.
Lennon lives forever... I have a huge beautiful portrait of him in my house...from the Lennon R&R Hall of Fame Exhibition (2000), which I had the pleasure to see, fabulously matted and framed, given to me for Mother's Day from my daughter.
I see his beautiful face every day--and that's all I need to see.

Yoko's doco fury
(Tuesday May 17, 2005 12:15 AM)
Yoko Ono has attacked a new film about the man who shot and killed John Lennon.
Channel 4 is preparing to show a documentary about M...C... on the 20th anniversary of the murder on December 8.
The film will be constructed from over 40 hours worth of interviews recorded in 1981, 1991 and 1992 by writer Jack Jones.
Lennon's widow Ono said in a statement: "It shows a lack of understanding of the painful memories of what happened to John's beautiful life."
"Myself, John's family and so many fans will be hurt by the showing of such a program."
A spokesperson for Channel 4 said: "It's very much a serious documentary and will be handled accordingly."
At a parole hearing last October, C... admitted to planning the shooting for months prior to the attack and of wanting to 'steal' Lennon's fame.

I remember that interview. It cost me quite a bit of money. As soon as it started (I didn't know it was on. My son had turned on the t.v.), I threw a table lamp through the picture screen. Poof. No t.v. (almost drove me nuts. No t.v. for a week.)

... and there is exactly the problem lies, for me, and probably for most people !
... this is going to be more about "him", that John... and in this case it's even worst, as "his" main motivation in doing that was to get attention...
... and, now, he has it !

One of the Discovery Channels is running a show called "The Murder of John Lennon" this week that features audio recordings of MDC. It made a good point at the end of saying that even though he's being punished, he got exactly what he wanted, noteriety.
Con: Why give this Karmic A-hole any more attention? That's why he did it.
Pro: Maybe these interviews can help us understand him and PEOPLE LIKE HIM. If we can prevent another situation like John's or George's, let's figure out the warning signs.
We're all mates with Attica State.

I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of documentaries and media bombardment about John's assassination/ C******'s life this December... it seems the media always likes to "celebrate" these sort of 25th anniversary things.
