George, you're so fine, but beware of lawyers, they can hit you, they can hurt you. We are still Apple Scruffs., I'd have the album anytime.

Nobody has mentioned It's Only Love, a sweet song I think is under 2 minutes. I guess one could name the entire album/cd.

Indeed that is a wonderful song. I specially like the John vocal which sometimes sounds like 'dark horse'. And the keyboard which they used a lot on that album.

I like George Martin's idea of using souped up double speed piano on certain Beatle songs and on In My Life in particular - in the bridge I believe. http://www.users.drak.net/dragonfly99/tempimages/badger1.jpg

Thanks, Kat. Actually, It's Only Love was on the UK version of Help, so according to your frame of reference, you could name this song either way.

As Orig once said, those of us who grew up with the American version lps, and wore them out, have the song sequence ingrained in our minds. It's all in the mind, you know.

I'd have to say In My Life and What Goes On. I love George's guitar pickin' in the latter!

Run For Your Life.

It's really hard to choose just one favorite from that album as their is so much good stuff to choose from.

I was really stunned the first time(no, second, actually-you know sometimes songs don't get to you the very first time) that I heard this album. All the songs are fabulous, really.
I really like 'Wait'. I think that's the closest they've got to matching the words with the lyrics, and they do that in every song!

Drive My Car
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
You Won't See Me
Nowhere Man
Think For Yourself
The Word
Michelle
What Goes On
Girl
I'm Looking Through You
In My Life
Wait
If I Needed Someone
Run For Your Life

Who would wanna choose. This album is so fresh, with all the rather new sounds, the amazing vocals and the different styles of songs. Put down any other ranking order and try to skip teh ones you like less.

We don't even KNOW the american versions of the albums here in Chile (Anyway, I think it's very stupid what Capitol did to change the order of the songs -or to keep some of them in the dark for another LP- so they could earn more money: The Beatles never agreed with that!). So I'm going to stay with the CD I own. My favorite song out of "Rubber Soul" is, of course, "In My Life". The runner-up? George's "Think For Yourself", one of the first "political" songs of The Beatles.

The best album of the 1960s (gee, that's a big call, now that I think of it, but I'll stand firm).

I cannot decide on my favourite among:
Nowhere Man
In My Life
You Won't See Me
Michelle
Drive My Car
Norwegian Wood

...and I realise that's about half the album I'm rating as "equal 1st". As for the rest of the album, well, I'll give equal 7th to the rest, except that outright last goes to "Run For Your Life".

I kind of love "You Won't See Me". I tend to listen that to one the most from this album. And I love the back-up singing on it, oooh la la la
