I have been listening to Queen quite a lot recently and have noticed that George and Brian are both very similar with their guitar playing. Both play a mean slide! Is it just me or is there a similarity?

Yes! I have thought the same thing! I think there is a simularity, perhaps down to the fact Queen were heavily influenced by the Beatles. There was a film somewhere where all the members of Queen were asked their favourite band and three answered Beatles and the fourth answered John Lennon. (Think that was Roger). I'm going to see Queen in a week though, so I will pay careful attention!

You just can't deny that Beatle influence!

As far as I know Brian does not play slide much, he uses a different technique for which I don't know the English name, but I do understand what you mean.

I believe Brian is more in the Gary Moore area, and also how Eric Clapton used to play in the 70's.

But....I agree...same like George, Brian does very well know how to 'play' with his strings, listen to some album songs of Queen, not just the usual Rapsodies but the album ones and there you find that similarity :)
